The bleeding and swelling were minimal. From what I'm gathering from the transcripts no one is disputing that the head injury came just before or after death. Also, no one is disputing that she died of strangulation. I've not heard anyone claim that she died from the head injury and then was strangled.

"I've not heard anyone claim that she died from the head injury and then was strangled."

I agree. But I also think that some experts are not willing to exclude the possibility either. I think that's the catch-22 in this evidence: it's not really clear (or certain) what the sequence of events, and their causes, was. I think any one of these scenarios is more or less equally feasible provided the strangulation and head trauma occured within about 30 minutes of each other.

My last post has a good link that delves into this debate.

It's incomplete right now but I like it b/c it helps put the pro and con arguments side by side; which we need in this confusing case!

So, have you heard anything about the great underwear controversy? She was supposedly found in "someone elses" underwear (actually underwear intended for a cousin).

I've not heard anyone claim that she died from the head injury and then was strangled.

Wolfstar didn't claim that either ;-) And lots of posters have postulated that PR staged the strangulation to cover up an accidental fatal blow by Burke on this forum and others.

Personally, I have always thought that idea silly at best and malicious at worst.

I've always thought that the blow was done at the same time as the strangling or nearly so, perhaps a during a fit of rage by the killer for non-compliance or because of his inability to "complete" his fantasy.

It is also possible that he was using the ligature as part of his fantasy (not intending to actually kill with it), realized he had killed her, flipped out and threw her into the wall or floor with such force that he cracked her skull.

unless they get some single piece of evidence that ABSOLUTELY excludes him (pick any one you want), they are going to prosecute him.

On the nocturnal eneuresis (bedwetting) of which I am somewhat of an expert as both a mother and a former sufferer.

The wet bed, pullup and wadded up turtleneck mean that an independent and self-sufficient child got up in the night to deal with it herself and IMO met the killer in the process.

It's perfectly normal for a child her age to change themselves into dry clothing and snag a blanket or two from the cupboard or dryer and sleep on a sofa or even the floor rather than disturb parents or siblings.

hard to make out anything there.

but it sounds like she is talking BEFORE the 911 operator engages her side of the conversation. now, it might be crying or screaming while she is holding the phone. and I cannot understand the first words she speaks, even after the operator says "911 emergency". is she saying those words to the operator?

why not? absent some bombshell piece of evidence we don't know about now, the case appears to stitched together from the facts we have now. and so long as none of those facts exclude him, they can go forward. whats the worst that can happen? he is acquitted.

This could be key:

(CBS) CHICAGO Forensic scientist Skip Palenik is used to getting calls from police. But two weeks ago, he got a call from a detective that stopped him cold.

It came from a Boulder police detective in the murder investigation of JonBenet Ramsey.

“I've had the evidence back here at my laboratory,” Palenik said. “He called and said he was coming to pick it up, so I wondered what was going on.”

Days later, the arrest of John Mark Karr, who confessed to killing Ramsey, hit the news, and Palenik knew why police wanted what had sat in his lab for a decade.

“We were examining the microscopic evidence from her body that was collected right after the murder,” he said.

Investigators had removed some particles collected from the 6-year-old's body and clothing by hand and some with tape. When it came to examining them, they turned to this tiny lab in Elgin – more than 1,000 miles away – where the best investigators in the world come for answers.

In addition to the Ramsey murder, Palenik has worked on the Oklahoma City and Unabomber cases, the Green River murders, and the local murder of Jaclyn Dowaliby. His clients include the FBI.

But despite Palenik’s success, the JonBenet case has always bothered him.

“To us it represents a failure in the end to be unsolved,” he said.

Now he hopes maybe a tiny particle he found could help close one of the biggest murder cases in America.

what microscopic evidence? I am very skeptical of these "revelations" found years and years later.
