For your bookmarking assistance, this is a reference list of links to the Aug 2006 or newer Free Republic threads on the topic of the JonBenet Ramsey murder case and the possible arrest of John Mark Karr as a suspect in her murder.
I didn't say I know that for sure to be the cause. I said, in this particular murder case, it's an important consideration.
A 6-yo child sleeping in her home is "low-risk" as a kidnapping victim, the lowest risk there is. With each layer of public exposure, her risk increases.
She had somewhat more than the usual 6-yo child, with being in the Christmas parade because of her pageant title, and with her father being head of one of Boulder's largest employers.
I had forgotten about Nate & Wex saying this morning that it looked like JMK was drugged in the Thai press conference, until you mentioned it and after seeing them again this afternoon on one of the tab TV shows.
It looked that way to a lot of us, but it didn't occur to me that anyone would think "officials" did it, lol.
He may have some pain medication from any or all the operations he had been having and he, of course, may be on the hormone therapy for whatever he planned to do in the future.
Nate & Wex and seem to be totally avoiding that part of the Thai "picture."
Well, shut me up! ;-)
I'm just some amatuer that doesn't want to see a railroading (media or otherwise) if he didn't do it. If he did, well, let's string him up by his nuts and move onto the next case.
The screwy thing here is that he *wants* to be guilty for this and the authorities *want* to have this fiasco put behind them. That just makes me suspicious. Who's left to piece together whether he really is the killer or just somebody to clear the conscience of everyone who has f-ed up this case to date?
Until it's explained to me a) how he was in Boulder at the time of the murder, b) how he gained access to the Ramsey home and c) how he went about committing the crime in a manner that matches the evidence, I'm still asking questions as to whether this guy is the real killer or just a creepy nutbag wannabe. I don't want to take anyone's word for it, including the accused. I want some cold hard facts that add up.
I do hope this guy is put away somewhere but not for the JBR case unless he actually did it.
DNA is a little different, but do you know if they had any prints from the murder scene?
Given the sort of crime scene, there is an amazing lack of available prints other than those matching the family which can easily be explained away. So either a) the perp wore gloves (plausible for an intruder because it was freezing outside), b) the perp wiped down all the prints (he seems to have had plenty of time to do it but how many perps - particularly one with no known home invasion history - are skilled enough to cover all their tracks?) or c) it was entirely an inside job.
I'm not sure that the 911 tapes are what Steve Thomas claims them to be. Here is a link. You be the judge.

they are going to prosecute this guy on whatever they have - partial DNA, perhaps no proof he was in boulder but no definitive proof he was someplace else, his statements, the tape recordings, etc.
No, they're not.
Thanks for all of your posts. I couldn't be here yesterday, but I have now read them all.
Pageants aren't my thing, but I can understand why Patsy did this with JonBenet. I lost a close friend to cancer a few years ago, and she had done a similar thing,(not pageants though) with her daughters. Once she was in remission she started trying to cram in as many mother daughter experiences as possible.
In an interview with Barbara Walters Patsy said something similar. Pageants had been a very special time in her life. Having just recovered from ovarian cancer, she didn't believe she would live to see her daughter grow up, and she wanted to share this experience with her daughter while she could.
Many cancer patients are lucky if their remission lasts even five years. I think we need to consider where Patsy was coming from before we place judgement on her concerning the pageants. No, they aren't what I would choose. I would pick out something that had been wonderful to me, but from Patsy's perspective that's what she was doing.
But if the parents were selling nude pictures of their children, or teaching kids to play with crocodiles or smoking cigarettes while pregnant, you wouldn't judge them just because its different, would you?
I'm just saying that a blanket statement like the one you made covers a lot of areas you might not agree with and might even feel like opposing. Your statement might *sound* nice, but it might not be a rational position to defend.
I tend to fall on the side of parental rights most of the time and I don't see the harm of beauty pageants per se although I'm not sure that young an age is appropriate (would you, for example, approve of football tournaments for 5-year-old boys even if Daddy starred in the pros?). Yes, some folks are busybodies and some governments are too but if you gave parents a total pass on their right to parent a child, you lead to those situations where kids are discovered locked in closets or sold as slaves. Not all parents do the right thing with their children and judgements from the "old girl network" seems to be nature's way of steering parents away from harmful behaviors.
And now you know why BPD never pursued them as evidence.
Personally, I think Det. Thomas decided early that the Ramseys were guilty and never had an unbiased thought or perception after that.
Your evaluation of the head trauma and strangulatioin is the exact opposite of everthing I've read and heard.
How so? I think Wolfstar's description is spot on with the autopsy.
By every report I have read, the pagents were a shared joy. They're not inexpensive either.
There are too many Wendys in this case.
You're welcome.
"No. She died of strangulation; that cord was imbedded in her neck so deeply that Det. Arndt and John Ramsey didn't even see it when her body was brought up from the basement."
How would the depth or severity of the constriction determine whether she was alive or dead at the time it was applied. Not sure I follow you there.
There's a great link to the tape controversy at:

There were several enhancements done and I'm not sure what to make of it yet, either.
