I'm not speaking of "insane" in a diagnosis sense, or legal sense or any of the rest. You notice I put quote marks around it.
It's just what strikes us who are more normal when we hear something so over the top like that was, and the subject is the brutal, sadistic murder of a child.

I was responding to a post which doubted the possibility he's the murderer, based in part on his sounding so "insane" (to quote from the post) in the phone call.
Well, DUH, I would expect him to sound weird and scary to us, who aren't even remotely in his shoes.

rm: 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
putrefaction: no later than 11 p.m.
GI transit: pineapple consumed 1 to 2 hours before death
Looks to me like the time of death had to be really close to 10 p.m.
I'm hard pressed to see how an intruder did that. Anyone?
But I'm puzzled by the manner of death. As a poster pointed out, it does appear from patechial hemorrhage that she was alive when strangled - even if it was just a shallow 'hanging on'. That means if it was a family member they did indeed bash her head AS WELL as strangle her. It seems odd that a family member would kill her that way.
Any psych experts out there? Is a 9 year old even capable of that kind of thing? I honestly don't know.

I might be taking that wrong, the bold print at the bottom of the screen on FOX reads:

The biggest problem I see with the timeline has to do with the pineapple. Even allowing for wide variances with known cases for her weight, the room temp, etc. the latest she could have died was 11 p.m. That's from a convergence of TWO well studied forensic pieces of evidence. Now, add the pineapple. She needed at least 1 hour to get that down to it's observed transit point. But that means an intruder had to feed her pineapple no later than 10 p.m. But that's when they were walking in the door. Unless someone can explain that to me, I can't see how an intruder did this.
