Film quotes that are echoed in ransom note
The Ramsey ad suggests that the following film quotes show JonBenet's killer had an obsession with phrases from "techno crime movies.''
Among the movie phrases cited are:
Dirty Harry
-"If I even think you're being followed, the girl dies.''
-"That's the end of the game. The girl dies.''
-"Now listen to me carefully.''
-"Now listen. Listen very carefully.''
-"It sounds like you had a good rest. You'll need it.''
Ransom
-"Do not involve the police or the FBI. If you do, I will kill him.'' -"Do not inform the media or I will kill him.''
-"No tracking devices in the money or the cases or I will kill him.''
Speed
-"You know that I'm on top of you. Do not attempt to grow a brain.''
Even the opening is strange:
"We are a group of individuals that represent a small foreign faction. We respect your business, but not the country it serves."
Anti-American theme... totally strange.
Sorry, onyx forgot to TIVO the program and I was typing at the same time they were relating the movies.
they only mentioned 2 in the MSNBC special - I went back on my DVR (like Tivo) replayed it - paused it - wrote the 2 quotes down and posted them above, but there are more and I am hunting them down.
Ad placed by Ramseys says they think ransom note shows writer had fixation with thrillers By John C. Ensslin
%%byline%%By John C. Ensslin The author of the JonBenet Ramsey ransom note had an obsession with language from movie thrillers, her family believes. The note contains passages similar to dialogue in Ransom, Speed and Dirty Harry, the family suggests in a newspaper advertisement scheduled to run in Sunday's Boulder Daily Camera.
The ad does not contain the actual language used in the note, which was discovered on a stairwell inside John and Patsy Ramsey's Boulder home on Dec. 26.

The were all listed in one of the charts in the background....Two shot, Grey charts, first one had them all, second was an example from "Slate" I think. Speaking on top related to movies.
Cripes. Can we post from the Rocky Mountain News?
I better ask the mod. I post articles so seldom, that I don;t keep the list 'forbidden' list handy.
(cont.)
11. Fleet White Jr., the parent of the little boy Fleet III(it's confusing because people think Jr. is the son if you don't distinguish between them), took responsibility for the 911 call on 12/23/96, saying he was trying to call his parents in Aspen and in dialing, didn't dial the 9 to get an outside line on the Rams' phone or dialed too many 9s or something. PR or SS said it was a "drunk party guest."
12. They had both been wiped clean - even the batteries in the flashlight.
13. Burke may have found it and gotten it out at another time. What little kid doesn't know all the hiding places in his own house, used by his parental and other authority units for confiscated goodies?
14. No one knows
15. JonBenet wet the bed, which was a frequent occurrence?
16. Not everyone leaves fingerprints. Some people have oilier skin than others, also cleaner hands leave fewer fingerprints than those with soil on them.
17. Perhaps Karr was in AL and didn't care
Interesting!
I hit abuse on my post # 1486 --- the source might be on FR's forbidden list. I seldom post articles, so I don't keep the forbidden list handy.
Hurry up! Copy the list to refer to later.
"John, John, John"......take off of "Judy, Judy, Judy" WHich movie is that from.....
tick,
tick,
tick,
tick.....who gets the prize?
A Cary Grant film "Only Angels Have Wings" but that line wasn't ever uttered in the film.
What's my prize?
I already posted it in 1482 - the list for the article
That was so silly when they came out with all those. They were common words and phrases, either already in use or put into the popular vernacular after the movies.
I hadn't seen half of them, but knew the terms used and heard others use them. The point they were making was then to say "the Ramsesy don't watch these kinds of movies." *Why, John slept through 'Speed' on the plane.*
The only one that I think would be pertinent was the one that Gaston or Cox mentioned when Det. Arndt showed them all the ransom note and asked for their opinions.
One of them, Gaston, I believe, had seen the movie the night before, when he was sleeping on the sofa at the Whites after the party guests had gone home. It was "Nick of Time" and would have been familiar because it was top of mind from the night before.
No one can have a dozen different movies "top of mind" at the same time.
That was Goober Pyle, on the Andy Griffith Show, imitating Cary Grant.
A well deserved rest......
Cary never said "Judy, Judy, Judy" in any of his movies. He came close to it Only Angels Have Wings (1939) with lines such as "Oh Judy" and "Yes, Judy", but he never said it. He did say "Susan, Susan, Susan" however in Bringing Up Baby (1938). The story of how the phrase "Judy, Judy, Judy" became associate with Cary Grant can be read here .
FOTFLOL! Good one!
well golly gee..........HOnorable mention
