An arrest in the JonBenet Ramsey case is due to happen "shortly," according to sources in our newsroom -- I know I can't post the link to our site (we're a Gannett station, and despite the "ban", I would welcome the traffic), but most of you know where I work and what the site is...
According to our sister station in Denver, an arrest took place early this morning in Thailand.

I think they are serious. There are still many people who will not rest until they have figured out an angle to involve Patsy or John or Burke.

The difference is that depravity between consenting adults is one thing. The sexual enslavement of women and children as a national commodity and export is something quite different.

As in NAMBLA? (North American of Man-Boy Love Association) That's where I got that impression. That there is even a group by that name was enough to sway my opinion.

I agree, I never thought the Ramsey's were responsible. I've always thought there was a sicko out there that did this horrible crime. I hate that the Ramsey's had to endure such horric abuse through the years. I hope this guy Carr is the guy and he is brought to justice!

Got an MBA from UNC in 1996 - sounds like someone a certain Ramsey supporter sicc'ed LE onto, as she has before. He also lived in her area of Mass previously.

I don't have any idea. I think someone found a pedo after extensive searching and turned him in to LE. We'll see.
It's the same in the Phillipines. When I was in the Navy, we made a liberty call there, and the mama-san (madam) at the bar we went to set me (age 21 at the time) up with a "girlfriend" who looked 18 or so -- lots of makeup, flash dress, high-heeled sneakers, etc. After leaving the dark bar, however, I saw her in brighter light of day outside and I realized she couldn't have been more than twelve or thirteen years old! Well, I was a pretty nasty individual in those days, but even at my worst there was a limit to what I'd even consider doing, and messing around with kids was definitely over that limit. Once I saw she was just a kid, I gave her twenty American dollars and told her to go home. She did, with a look of relief, and I went on my merry way.
Don't get me wrong. I'm no saint now and I certainly wasn't back then. I did PLENTY of disgusting, immoral, and downright sinful things during my single years -- but only with WOMEN, grownup, adult, old-enough-to-know-better women. This girl was just a kid, for Pete's sake, and from her demeanor I could tell she hadn't been "on the job" very long. I mean, what kind of "man" would be attracted to some bony little girl? I wasn't. I felt sorry for her. She was younger than my kid sister at the time. There was just no freaking way.
I sometimes wonder how that girl ended up. I hope she got out of the "business", met a nice sailor, fell in love, got married, moved to the States, and is currently living a blissfully dull life with her husband and kids in a house somewhere.
