I had a rental car recently that had XM in it, and I loved it. So now I WANT to have satellite radio, so I'm asking my fellow FREEPers opinions. Which is best? Or, why do you prefer Sirius or XM?
Thanks in advance! RD
Howard Stern is on Sirius
therefore I'd get XM
PINGAROO
Yes, certainly.
Many weak minded folks and even mental defectives benefit
greatly from the canned opinions provided there.
Folks without the ability to form their own opinions
need this crutch in order to appear to understand issues
far beyond their ability to grasp on their own.
Bully for pigfarmer radio!
Who peed in your cornflakes?
Honey-Nut Cheerios, actually.
I just think talk radio is demeaning and stupid.
What, I can't have an opinion?
I see.
We tried them both, long story freepmail me if you are curious about the rather boring details. Sirius is by far the best, especially if you are wanting it for music.
XM has all these silly "music by the decade" channels, Sirius has much, much better "music by catagory" channels. The ones we listen to are: Outlaw Country, Sirius (maybe it's serious, not sure) Disorder, where they play just all kinds of stuff, Sirius (serious?) Blues, Margaritaville (the Jimmy Buffet and Buffet-like channel), Sirius (serious?) Gold, a great, great oldies station which has basically saved my sanity after the loss of CBS FM here in the NYC metro area. Hubby wants me to point out that they will have all the NFL games. Hubby says it is a matter of individual taste which brand you'd prefer, Sirius seems to have a more eclectic mix. As serious (sirius?) music listeners we HAD to switch out the XM for the Sirius.
Sirius is the best value. Lifetime membership for $499, can even be tranferred to a different car at the present time.
I had XM for the past two years. Now that they are playing commercials on music channels, I canceled my subscription and switching to Sirius. I am not paying $13/month to listen to commercials.
Sirius has NFL and will have NASCAR in 2007. Those matter to me.
Alas, some of us lack the highly developed mental faculties of the masquerading liberals on FR.
XM seems to go deeper into the music archives, and the playlists don't repeat as often. Sirrus programs more frequent repeats and concentrates on what's newer.
XM has FNN, CNN, CNN Headline, talk right and talk left(almost as funny as the comedy channels), Weather Channel and TrafficPulse in real time for all the major metro areas of the country.
I've had XM since it was introduced, and I can't travel without it.
So anyone who dislikes talk radio is a liberal???
"my three current favorite channels are 84, 82 and 124 (124 is WABC radio out of NY,"
I was searching for info on XM and sirius and found this post...
if you can get WABC out of NY, then how come you can't listen to Rush at noon EST? Is it blacked out or something?
I drive a lot for work and go thru lots of static areas while I try and listen to talk radio - I am going insane (or autistic). I was really hoping that sat radio would help clear up the clutter but still let me listen to Rush on a station like WABC....
...yes... Rush is blacked out on both Sirius and XM. The upside is that he's on so many stations across America that you can pick him up just about anywhere.
thanks, was going to pull the trigger this weekend and didn't manage to get to the store...will be getting XM, I think.
My mom said my dad needs a program (they don't have a computer). I looked on XM's site, and it was a jumble. Many names I never heard of, but I printed a few pages. She specifically mentioned Bill Bennett, but from what I read, I think he's on Sirius now I was shocked at how many libs are on XM ;(
