The Hobbit Hole XXX - Then world behind and home ahead...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 06/28/2006 10:14:11 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Then world behind and home ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well...personally I come from a state where basically only certain vehicles will take any kinda winter weather thrown at 'em, and SAAB is one of the top choices. So I'm biased. They even have little niceties like wipers to keep lights clean in heavy, wet snow.

That stated, I think it looks great, and I wannit. K?

It's stylish, but it's still a station wagon.

If'n it ain't a 4x4 with truck suspension, it's not an SUV, and it's too big to be a hatchback.

Is station wagon an insult in some circles or something? :~D

And I misread the question. Body style...I'd call it a wagon. Like Volvos are wagons and Subaru Outbacks are wagons. What's wrong with that?

Can you get it with a less powerful window washer?

I don't think SAAB does anything "less powerful."

Eh...soccer moms drive SUVs now.

Unfortunately...wagons are yuppie-mobiles.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

First impression was "sleek" 'til I realized that the white streak across the top was just ad graphics.

Then I thought "nice station wagon."

Tell big ol' that's from someone who actually owns a mini-van.

Mostly ones without kids - you can still stick sporting stuff in 'em, but they give better gas milage, so you can still feel smug.

I still want one. ;-) My next vehicle will probably be something in that category - the wagon like SUVs or SUV like wagons. In my dreams, anyhow. In reality...this van will probably fall apart someday and I'll just have to take whatever's cheapest. *sigh*

My wife drives the sedan version of that. Very quick car, very comfortable too. Great vehicle. We drove it to Entmoot, a couple years ago. Had it a few years now, maybe 3.

However, I did see a negative report about Saabs on a recent FR thread. I think it said they are unreliable. My wife's does not have that problem.

The one in the pic is a wagon, clearly. Have seen one in person, they look sharp.

I much prefer the sedan, too. Much prefer. There are aspects of the interior construction that strike me as flimsey so I can see where the unreliable claim comes from.

did summer school there in '79

Close, but no cigar. I worked for Obenshain in DC in the summer of '78, attended Tech, withdrew after I was hospitalized with a slipped disk, and entered NYU in the fall of '79.

Question please about Outlook Express.

Wife has been having trouble with hers since she tried to link the crackberry. But we've taken that off now. She gets a company computer in a couple of weeks anyway.

That said, she's got about a dozen emails in her outbox. The addresses are bad, but it keeps trying to send them. I can't find a way to go in and delete them. I know I have before on mine, but how?

~She~ said that Microsoft help said she has to go into the harddrive and delete her outbox file.

I don't like the sound of that.

Thoughts?
