Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Then world behind and home ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I remember who Warren is now... he's the Purpose Driven Life guy, huh... I was confusing him with Bro Cloud.
My mistake :~)

For some reason, Dell's shipping and tracking info is always off recently. I suppose they just figure if they overestimate, folks will be happy that things didn't take *as* long, but it's irritating.
Heh...we had a system that came in a MONTH ago - in theory the shipping status page should have been updated with a tracking number and estimated delivery within a day or so of shipping. But it's said "In Transit to Local Carrier" for all that time...and it came in three days after the order.

You characters are wonderously unreal. Heh...I'm not sure if that works out as a compliment or not! ;-)

I was trying to remember (and had to look it up). There was an almost identical thread last year or so when Warren went to Rwanda.

Fortunately for me, since Nana moved in wife parks around back (stairs are easier for Nana to negotiate). So, I was able to intercept a birthday present delivered by FedEx yesterday.

"What is REAL?" asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"
"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."
"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.
"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."

grr....I'm trying to get greeting cards printed from a photo. I can't get the Kinkos one to preview without a border...on just three sides...and Shutterfly tells me I don't have the resolution right...even though I've tried to set it to their exact recommendations....but enough fooling with that now.

In other news, family crisis averted.
We leave for thebeach three weeks from today. Nana had told us she was going to go to NC and stay until the family reunion on Labor Day. We had every indication that was what she ~wanted~ to do.
We didn't say anything, but that left us with four weeks of not knowing what to do with Luke during the day. We were looking at camps, etc.
So finally, after I'd been pushing the issue for two weeks, we asked Nana why she was going to NC. She said "I don't want to, but you won't be here." (we're only at thebeach for a week)
~sigh~
But, at least as it stands now, Jr. can stay here and work while we're at the beach (another problem solved), Sam doesn't have to go to the kennel (another $300 saved), Nana can stay here (and not be miserable for a month), and Luke can stay here (and save us $800 in camp fees).
Ringmaster Corin rides again.
