2006 WORLD CUP - Day 15 Thread - Groups G and H conclude

Spain will open the games, playing against Saudi Arabia in Kaiserslautern at 9:55 a.m. ET on ESPN and Ukraine will face Tunisia at the same time in Berlin (ESPN2).

Ukraine goes into the game against Tunisia knowing that it determines its own destiny. A victory will guarantee passage, but a draw could set up the possibility of another tie-breaking situation on goal difference. Tunisia, meanwhile, which hasn't won a World Cup game since its debut in 1978, has to defeat Ukraine and hope that Saudi Arabia does not defeat Spain by a large margin.

France will play against Togo in Cologne (2:55 p.m. ET, ESPN) without Zinedine Zidane, who is suspended for yellow card accumulation. 'Les Bleus' need a victory; any other result will put an end to their World Cup adventure. The 1998 champions were eliminated four years ago in the group stage, as well.

Switzerland and Korea lead the group with four points each and will face each other in Hannover (2:55 p.m. ET, ESPN2) knowing that a victory for either side will secure a spot in the Round of 16. A victory or a tie by Togo will guarantee both Switzerland and Korea a spot in the knockout phase.

Rumenigge was one of my biggest heroes growing up. Rumenigge, Keegan, Zico and Platini :-)

Where's 'Der Bomber' these days, I knew that after he retired, he settled in Fort Lauderdale, when I used to live there, but I heard he went back to Germany.

funny actually that you mention him...

that's the guy with the restaurant... didn't work out for him. He had a drinking problem and his old buddies Rummenigge and Hoeness brought him home - he's a youth trainer at the FC Bayern now.

Ukraine vs. Tunisia match was bad, but who gives a sh**. Ukraine is going to the next round. First ex-Soviet nation to do so. (In your face Russia)
Swiss or French or Koreans look beatable.

Koreans aren't beatable. That chick with the "Korea Fight" red top wins as the World Cup Hottie IMHO.

I'll say this for Korea. If I was a South Korean player and saw that "Korea Fight" top, I'd fight so hard I'd make the US Marines look like wimps. Talk about inspiration!!

The soccer was boring this morning and might be this afternoon as well, so we have no choice but to consider the hottie factor.

Ukraine vs. Tunisia match was bad

And badly officiated, again. Tunisia weren't awarded a penalty they clearly deserved and Ukraine were gifted a penalty minutes later. Tunisia still probably wouldn't have gone through, but anything can happen and it sucks to have to wonder what might have been.

Statements like that need to be backed up with visual evidence.

Very true. That picture was smoking hot though. Be careful your screen doesn't catch light when he posts it.

Hehe, still, I make boring games exciting with betting. My money lays on Switzerland, so we better cross our fingers for them. And I like Swiss cheese. Though they should adopt the €uro. ;-)

German free TV broadcasts France-Togo, which will be the worse match of both. For Switzerland vs. South Korea it´s somewhat a final game, both need to win to reach the first place in that group and to avoid Spain - and the loser can go home, or stay for a week or two with a nice chick. :)

LOL, I like that "in your face". It pays off when you´re a member in the league of free and democratic nations! Should be a lesson for the last European dictatorship in Belarus and the last semi-dictatorship sitting in the Kremlin.

I'll post a link if I get a chance.

That "Korea Fight" top is a fire hazard! Many thanks!

I trust that is enough visual evidence for the doubters?

One more request ET: Any pics of a smoking hot French chick wearing a "France Surrender" top?
