Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, has been fined $250,000 for his actions after game 5 of the NBA Finals in Miami.
Among those acts was shouting "F** You" at David Stern, NBA Commissioner as he was leaving the arena, coming on the court after the game and getting in the face of Ben Salvatore, the referee who called a foul on Josh Howard in the final minute of the game as he attempted to block a shot by David Wade.
Cuban then held a news conference, mocking nearly every question asked by the media.
This is not the first time Cuban has been fined a quarter million. He's still upset at the suspension of Stackhouse for Game 5 for blocking Shaquille O'Neal on a shot.
It may have been a stretch and it was wrong to call dallas a small market team, it would be an even bigger stretch and a bigger mistake to not call the heat a big market team.
GO MAVS!!!!!
I love it, a New Yorker who thinks he's an expert but gets it all wrong.
TV markets:
Combine Miami and West Palm-Ft.Pierce and they are still smaller than Dallas (which doesn't include Sherman-Denison):

Population:
DFW was larger than those 2 combined in 2004, according to the US Census:

and growing much faster, so each year the gap widens:

Never said I was an expert, but research is good, and I didn't make my numbers up either, here's some links.

That was just for Florida, and then I broke it down to the counties, the miami metro area is just 3 counties, while the dallas metro area is 12 counties, but the populatons are still similiar.

At this point, instead of me defining metro areas, I just go with the usual standard defs used.

You can also note the differance in area, density with minimal differance in population and factor in growth.
Just like the lurid interest in watching a car wreck. Love him or hate him, Mark Cuban has substantially ratcheted up interest in Game 6 tonight.
By the way, I think somebody at the NBA offices must have listened to ESPN Radio's Mike & Mike in the Morning show because that was where the issue of Cuban's behavior first came up big time--hence the US$250,000 fine.
Yep. I just have one more thing to say on this issue: GOV MAVS!
The NBA Is a private business.....
The hit isn't what got Stack suspended, it was the half-second sizing up of Shaq that got him.
Had he not taken the time to select his target and just run into him, you would've won Game 5 because Stack would have been in the lineup.
There is no love of Dallas in the league offices.
what did I just say?
It wasn't the damn hit, it was that he measured Shaq for a half-second before he hit him.
Because the calls against the Mavs so heavily outweighed the calls against the Heat. Also, how many Heat players were suspended from the game?
First, the Mavs take more jump shots than the Heat. That results in less fouls, because most fouls are called when a player drives to the basket.
Second, a flagrant foul almost always (if not always) results in a one game suspension.
Did you want them to change the rules to fabvor the Mavericks?
Fact is, the Heat were hungrier, tougher and had more guts.
The Mavs, a more talented team top to bottom, blew it, and have no one to blame but themselves.
Crybabies and whiners blame it on the referees, as though they caused Nowitzki to have ZERO field goals in the 4th quarter of last nights game.
