The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

One of those reachers would work as long as you didn't punch an eye out.

I wish my heeler, Nikki, would let me brush her. She hates it and even snaps at you if you try. She's got clumps of dead hair hanging off her right now. I'd think it would feel so good to get that crap off, but she won't come near you if you have a brush in your hand.

Mine all sortof like it... but they have their own opinions about ~where~ they want to be brushed :~D

Your heeler, maybe you could knock her out with some doggie downers and take the clippers to her :~) That's what we had to do with our old orange cat :~D

I never thought about that. She's getting so old now, and feeble, the downers might just finish her off....

We just had my cocker (17 going on 18) at the groomers to get his summer shave. He's black as coal (with lots of grey now) and he just wilts in the heat. I don't think that we'll be able to do that anymore, the stress is too much for him now. There was a mobile groomer that used to come to the house but she went out of business. I just take a shedding blade to my lab/border collie mix. Works wonders, but then again, he doesn't have the same reaction as Becky's heeler does. He does with his nails though... it's a battle royale just to get them clipped. He carries on like I'm killing him.

I bet they like that mower... Heck... I'd borrow it if you lived closer and you might say yes ;~D

I still have to mow the part of the pasture the horses were on, probably finish it Friday.

It does fence line good, and easy.

Tomorrow morning, I'm figuring some way to get the saddle on the horse...can't wait any longer.

Look who is up and walking around. Remember that horse that was found in the ditch? He's still very lame but he is walking now and putting on weight. He keeps this up and he may have a comfortable life as a school horse.
