The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Apparently Hope and Ellie like to use it for a foot bath!

Responding to an earlier picture you sent I came across this one of Jake. He prefers the water pick method of teeth cleaning.

Good morning,

Yes, just set the alarm and got up a couple of times to check. Appears to be out or under control now, too smoky in the valley to see the hills. I think we're all okay.

Got through the night just fine. No halters on the horses, too much a chance of nylon burning. Everyone would know our horses though, only appaloosas for miles.

Hope you're not getting any damage from the flooding.

Boy, you must put in 20 hours work in every 24 hours to keep all the pups in show shape. Amazing how hard we'll work for the animals isn't it :)

It looks like everything is okay right now. I passed fire units from California this morning on my way into work. These incredible guys came from all over to fight the fires.

Praying you guys stay safe there.

Good morning.... glad there was no new fire risk overnight.

I just got back from the dentist, had to have a filling. Only my second one ever. Half my face is numb.

No, no damage, some basement flooding, but we're very damp. Drying out now with a couple of days of sun, but we're supposed to get more rain tomorrow. (I feel really bad talking about it, seeing as so many on this thread need it)

LOL!! Hope likes to do that too. It kinda makes it hard to spray everybody else because she wants to try to catch all the water in her mouth. Goofy Horses!

None of mine now would stick around to be sprayed. Too bad, cuz it looks like fun on a hot day.

My mustang liked the water. He used to walk up to the sprinkler in the pasture... one of the rotating kind, and stick the whole show in his mouth and drink. The water pressure was pretty high too... I thought it was gonna spray out his ears.

Queen does not stick around, she will have nothing to do with being sprayed. I tired to spray Blade the other day and he went into the barn. Guess he was not in the mood.

My mare, just usually stands there when she gets wetted. She puts on a "the things that I have to put up with" look but two things she really likes, that would drive me nuts. She likes me to wash her eye lids and inside her nostrils.

Lucky you. When I had those teeth pulled they numbed 3 places. It was freaky afterwards. I could not swallow. I had to drop my head and turn to the side and then it took several tries. It lasted about an hour.

The face is off limits when it comes to waching any of mine! Even Jake who loves to have the water hit is mouth hates his face to get wet.

My horse hated his face getting wet too, but I always had trouble spraying him down because he would always try to grab the hose for a drink. Would stick the whole thing in his mouth, or slurp on it.

Sounds just like Jake.

We can't talk about horses who love water without me posting this series of pictures of Rusty:). It took me awhile, and I originally blamed my dog, for holes showing up in my hose. One day, tho, I noticed Rusty. He paws the hose till he gets a hole in it, then stands in the spray....He loved being sprayed.

Sorry for the size, they are old pictures, and I don't know why they are smaller. But you can get the idea:)
