This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I don't know anything about that place but we have a lake lot in north Texas and I'm wanting a cabin or mobile home so we can go spend Christmas somewhere cold, with maybe snow:')
Oh what I wouldn't give for an orange tree. Growing up, one of my uncles had an orange grove. I loved that :)
Bob just called me, went on and on for 30 minutes about this horse he wants to sell me as a project: "How futuristic can you think?" He asks me. Kept saying - "You know... you're going to have to retire Bay one of these days..."This guy is a lot like Bay - moves like him, acts like him" (Does he know how to sell me a horse or what?) "He's big like Bay... Probably 15.2 but his neck goes WAY up from there" I guess when the shoer was there today - same shoer I use... they decided he would be a good project for me. Bob's checking him out and selling him for his daughter who shows Arabs and he's not a National Show Horse kind of horse but is a pretty mover. Bob said he's more of a project than he wants, he wants a nice dead broke quarter horse, not some flarin' A-Rab. The horse is 5 years old, 3/4 Arab, 1/4 Saddlebred, been ridden mostly in arena and some trail, black.
We're going to go ~look~ tomorrow. I imagine I'll take the camera :~)
I planted this from a scrawny branch I bought at Walmart about 5 years ago. Now it's huge.
So, five is a good age, take it slow and easy and he'll learn quick. Hoping to see pictures here soon. :)
If I ever win the lottery :) and get a greenhouse, I will get one, one of these days. I want a lemon tree too.
I may have already told you but I had a big lemon tree, lime, grapefruit and several bananas and lots of strawberry plants. The dog got hungry.
You can buy the minatures ones and keep them indoors. Have you seen them in the catalogs?
Boy, you sure know how to make me jealous :) I've seen the miniature ones but I just don't have room in the house. Then my cats destroy just about everything living in here except the dogs and they are working on that.
I have this thing about plants. I only want ones that make food. My husband is always saying "where are you going to put another tree?"
I would build a rehab and retirement home for old and injured horses.
Ignore or play. Your choice. Night all
Do you have a Plum tree? The wild varieties tend to have shoots sprouting up from the ground around the main tree. The tame ones seem to behave and have larger fruit.
Morning. I have one on the front porch (my green house). We bought it this summer but it's been too hot to plant yet.
If I won the lottery I'd stick it in the bank and continue on as I am now, only Mack wouldn't work:)
Hair...HO HO HO, looking at a new horse....very exciting:)...new porch, looks good:)
Hey Beaker, good to hear from you.
Duchess, Tuffy is a really nice looking horse...I always liked watching Rusty and Harley play...makes for some great pictures.
estrogen, I don't know anything about Aikens SC....if it turns out a good place tho, let me know, I'd like to escape winters here too, even just for a few weeks in Jan.
Did I get everyone:)....
Becky
Great pictures Duchess! It's funny when these sassy young colts learn that they ain't the hottest thing on the block isn't it? I'm glad Tuffy's getting a buddy though. They're fun to watch when they're goofing around with each other.
I used to love to watch it when Bob and Blade would get into their wrestling matches. They were pretty evenly matched in size and age so neither one of them was going to submit to the other. They'd just go at it a while and then agree to call it a draw until the next time. They'd be dipping and dodging and rolling on the ground one minute and rearing and pawing the air the next. It's a different story with Bob and Tennessee though. Tennessee's definately TheBoss. Since Tennessee's been separated from the rest of the group and only gets limited turnout with them when my sister-in-law has time to put his muzzle on him and let him out, Bob has claimed "TheLadies" as his own and tries to keep Tennessee away from them. It's so funny how he does it though because he'll see Tennessee trying to groom one of the girls through his muzzle and he'll come running over and put his body between them, but the whole time he's making his baby mouth faces at him and buckling down at the knees like he's bowing. It's like he's saying "Get away from my girls....but please don't hurt me". LOL!!
It's a horse lottery . You can only spend it on horse stuff. Sorry , Mack:')
The lady I bought Arabs from always rode Arab/Saddlebred's...she had one named Huckelberry...man he was a nice looking horse.
So is the horse at Bob's house? Did he give you any clue as to the temprament of the horse...the "not some flarin A-Rab" comment would worry me:). But you've talked enough about Bob, and he knows you well enough that I'd say if he thinks the horse would work for you, he probably would.
I don't think it's close to time to retire Bay:), but I do think it's time for you get one so you can bond with one "before" Bay retires....
I'm excited for you to go "look":)
Becky
Oh, I missed that...
Becky
LOL!!! We all know what that means! Hair's getting a new hoss! WOOHOO!
LOL:)
Becky
