The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Is that ok for Goose to do that? It's cute but I was expecting all kinds of posts of "stop it while he's little" but I didn't see any. Is it just normal play with colts?

It wouldn't be OK if he was doing it to Frog, (And believe me, they'll try) but proper horseplay between horses is mostly for horses to teach. His momma will get on his case about that the older he gets.

I believe you. Our Dalmatian that was stolen was big and husky (and not very smart) When he was a puppy I would put him on my shoulder like a baby and he would go from all hyper to calm and go to sleep. After he was fully grown, he could not understand why he still couldn't jump in my lap. Several times he caught me off guard and almost turned us over.

All the baby horses I've been around discover at about a month or so that they can stand on their rear legs, and once they discover that, they try to climb on darn near everything and everybody till their shown by most of their companions it ain't cool. Mommas cut them more slack than their other pasture mates, or the people in their lives do.

That's just normal play for foals. Fillies will do it to. If mom doesn't want them to she'll kick the snot out of them, or bite them...

It's difficult isn't it? Okay, here's a laugh for you :)

Dear Tide:

I am writing to say what an excellent product you have!

I've used it all of my married life, as my Mom always told me it was the best. Now that I am in my fifties I find it even better!

In fact, about a month ago, I spilled some red wine on my new white blouse. My inconsiderate and uncaring husband started to belittle me about how clumsy I was, and generally started becoming a pain in the neck. One thing led to another and somehow I ended up with his blood on my new white blouse!

I grabbed my bottle of Tide with bleach alternative, and to my surprise and satisfaction, all of the stains came out! In fact, the stains came out so well the detectives who came by yesterday told me that the DNA tests on my blouse were negative and then my attorney called and said that I was no longer considered a suspect in the disappearance of my husband.

What a relief! Going through menopause is bad enough without being a murder suspect! I thank you, once again, for having a great product.

Well, gotta go, have to write to the Hefty bag people.

Good Morning.

Weather was sure wrong on the MSN home page yesterday. There were thunderstorms when I got home from buying the new sprayer. That ended my pasture spraying for the day. :( I bought a 2 gallon one this time. Today is suppose to be nice, then rain tomorrow.

Good morning.

We have 30% chance of rain starting Sat morning, thru Sun. I might get a chance to try the rain gear I bought last winter.

Well, I hate to gripe about getting rain, I just hope it doesn't come while we are riding....

Off to give Harley his bath.

I know what you mean... we need rain too, but on Saturday?

Bay's feeling horsey this morning... They were running and bucking (yes, even Bay tried that!) just now. I only got one picture though, because when I went out there, they just came to me and stopped! I ruined the whole game, I think. You know... he hasn't had Bute now in two weeks and he seemed to feel terrific.

And on the way back to the house, I ~thought~ Pippin might be seriously going after our #$%&*! mole, but I think he's mostly just playing in the dirt :~)

Well, I've been telling you there is nothing wrong with that horse:)

UUMMMMM, dirt between the toes:)

Here's something funny. I only had enough of that purple kind of shampoo for "light" colored horses to do Harley's mane and tail, and his shoulders and neck. I didn't think it would make that much difference, but guess what...:). Looks like it takes out a lot of the gold tones. I've thought that in the past when I used it, but since the bottle says for palomino's I figured it was just my imagination. I just used some Suave on the rest of him, and I think it looks more gold then the front part. I like what the purple stuff does to his mane and tail, but from now on, I'm not using it on his body. I did use a very diluted bleach water on his tail, then gooped conditioner on. I think the purple stuff would work great on grays, but not palominos.
