The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Not yet. My batteries were down. I'll try to remember tomorrow. I just put him to bed. Sept 28th will be my first class. I'll get my money back but it made me a wreck to order books yesterday. I've been searching tonight for a training manikin. I should already have this stuff but I didn't want to turn loose of the money and not get approved.

So when does Tuffy go under the saddle? That should be interesting:')

Boy, I don't have any idea where you'd find a training manikin. Maybe the red cross has some old ones they'd like to get rid of.

Tuffy under saddle. Heaven help us :) Probably not for another year.

Oh and Red Cross and CPR dolls won't work. There are missing some non-essential parts,

Good luck. You've got four weeks, that should be enough time don't you think?

Good Morning.

Hair, The maze looks like so much fun. Is there a chance of getting lost in there, even with a map? I bet those kids had a blast. Both little and big!

We are having a cook out today. Weather does not look too promising.

The mares look better from the side shots. From the back, is where you can really see how bad they are.

They may be yawning if they are anemic.

Could be. Gum color was very pale.

Check this out, it's a live webcam of someone's horses. One of them is sleeping.

Those horses are going to be really pretty when they are back to normal.

Hello..no need to apologize. You are not butting in at all. We all enjoy reading "horse stories". Good for you for making a change in an animal's life. We will go easy on the grain at first, and we have a weight gain supplement that they will be given. I shudder to think of those poor horses going into winter, looking like that.

That foal is really laid out, snoozing and taking in the sun. Pretty cool to have a web cam.

It would be so awesome, if those two mares can gait. Right now, I am not too optimistic about them even being very well broke. The owners said they were broke to ride, but I bet it was a "throw the kid on and lead" type deal.

The foal finally got up.

"Broke to ride" can mean just about anything, you're right. I always liked the ads that say "started jumping" or "started on barrels." What does that mean? Walked over poles? Walked around the barrels once?

You're right, from the back, you can see all the bones you aren't supposed to see. But I look forward to seeing them after a good trim and some regular meals. :~)

In the maze, one is always in a constant state of being lost, but if you wander around long enough, you find your way out. We let the kids lead, takes the pressure off of us to know which way to go. :~D

I hope you get a break in the rain for your cookout!

One of the things we planned with our boarding stable is a webcam where people can check on their horses from home or work :~)

Somebody just went out there and got all the horses. Must be feedin' time.

Wouldn't it be fun to have a webcam on our horses? And being about to check a boarded horse at work is a great idea, wonder why no one has done that. Day cares do it so people can see their children during the day.
