The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well you already know the punch line so I won't go into detail, but she on a run away horse and was hanging on for dear life. She was just about to fall off when.... the Walmart Greeter came out and unplugged the carousel.

Woah! Did you check out the pic of the horse in the CT scanner? This place is impressive!

Did Marc comment any about Cyn's feet...did he notice more wear? If your going to winding down by then, I wouldn't have had her shod either.

He thought they looked fine... didn't take a lot off, just rasped them, didn't really want to entertain the idea of shoeing her. I asked "Does she need shoes?" He said "Nope".

Chatty guy. :~)

LOL.

Well, I said it earlier, I'll say it again. Unless someone has ridden her, or any horse for that matter, I don't see how they can say one way or another. IMO, it depends on how much they gimp, more then if their foot chips/wears. ecurbh is the one that should decide, not you, not the farrier:).

Was there suppose to be a picture of something:)

I went to Wal Mart today and found some neat water bottle carries that I'll tie on the my saddle at the back cinch rigging. I bought one for each side, but I may only use one. I'll try it out tomorrow when I saddle in the morning, and get some pictures.

It was coming. I got p/o with the woman at Zales. I bet she asked me 10 times if she could help me , or what I was looking for. I just walked out. Too bad, I might have put something in layaway if she would have left me alone. What part of I'm just looking do people not understand.

That reminds me... I called about the pad.

They said they made the wrong one... it was white. Was supposed to be black. They had to order a black one today.

I asked if I could get a special deal on the white instead of them sending it back, maybe I'd get both... they said I could have it for $40. I think that's a good deal, always good to have another pad.

That is aggravating. If that happens to me and I really want to look some more. I just tell them I'd like to be left alone:).

That is a good savings. I'd like to have two pads. An everyday one and a "special" one.

There is one over at the saddle shop I really really like, but it's $159....that would be a very special pad, but then I think is it worth it spending that much on one that only gets used once in a while....

I did. I told her I did not want any help and I just wanted to look and that I did not know what I was looking for. She went back to her place but was fidgeting like she was about to pee in her pants. A minute later, she's back to help. I just looked at her and walked out.

Two is good... The white one I'll keep for public appearances and such :~) Actually I'll probably use them both, just alternating and washing them so one is always clean. Can't have any dirt with my delicate horse :~)

They'll be the same except for color, with the pocket in it for the cashell cushion. That's the part I'm looking forward to, that it'll all be one tidy unit now instead of a stack.

Funny, at radio shack the guy was behind the counter chatting away on his phone. I finally had to interrupt him.. Somedays you just can't win.
