This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Where's everyone at?
I came down to town. This was Jenny's first day open in her shop. I have pictures, I'll load when I get home. She had 3 customers. She's not really advertising much yet that she is open because she is still working her other job too. It will be a month or so before she goes full time. Then she'll advertise.
Just to help her kill time I had her trim my hair AND, I had a new experience, I had her wax my eyebrows:)...never had that done before. I hate plucking, it hurts....but this was a piece of cake, dont' know why eveyrone doesn't do it:)
Becky
Congratulations to Jenny. Ask her if she has seen the gel nails. I has it done yesyerday and it looks just like I'm wearing clear polish.
Wow... I haven't done my eyebrows in years :~)
I'm here... following this breaking news situation at the Jewish Federation in Seattle.
I'll ask her if she has seen them, but she's not doing nails. She's pretty much sticking with what they do at Supercuts which is cuts, styles, color, and waxing...no perms, nails, rollers, etc....
Can't wait for you all to see the pictures of her shop. It's really cool
The name is Jenny's Chop Shop, and the inside is decorated with car mechanices benches, and pictures of muscle cars on the wall. She also has a TV going with DVD's of car/motorcycle crashes...
Becky
I'm following that thread too. What is a federation? I didn't want to ask over there.
I haven't done mine since college:), have always been a bit self-consious about it too. Felt like a gorilla:), but just could not bring myself to do anything.
But Jenny couldn't find the stuff she was use to working with so it was a new product for her, and I gave her chance to get use to it...what we mothers do...she actually liked it better then what she was use to.
(what a topic of conversation:)
Becky
Well, I have a hard enough time keeping up with my legs :~)
LOL, me too:)
Becky
It never did cool off here yesterday:(..
Here's a few pictures I took of Jenny's shop yesterday. Notice no dream quality. I finally decided to take the broken glass off the front, and it works fine. I'll just have to be careful about getting dirt in/on the lens.

Today we are all going up to my dad's place. He's having a family reunion/15 year anniversary party. I got him and his wife some coffee cups in Wa. that are made from the ash of Mt. St. Helens's.
Becky
Her new shop looks great, I hope she does real well there.
And I hope you don't get in too much trouble with dad about the trip!
Looks like a fun place:') I'm going to do some work around the house and ride this evening. My grandson is going to meet me out there and ride Sarah Lee. I think it has hurt me worse than him to tell him no last Sat. I have fretted about it all week:') Who really gets punished? Have a good visit with your dad.
What a cute idea for a beauty shop, Jenny and Becky. Good luck in your new business. Right out of high school, I went to beauty school. I worked in a shop for about a year, and decided it was not the line of work I wanted to do. That was during the "big hair" era. Tease or back combs that hair and spray the heck out of it...lol
You could hide weapons in that kind of hair :~D
Before: The birdbath in particular has become the source of many tragedies as the kittens have learned to hunker in the ferns there and swipe at the birds that come to sit on the edge of the bath. Squirrels on the rather tired looking platforms behind. The cats easily climb up and onto those platforms... at much risk to the squirrels.
After: New high feeder platforms, and birdbath moved. Horse mesh fencing the squirrels can fit through but the kittens cannot, preventing the kittens from being able to get in and climb those trees. I think we now have a no pet zone. The squirrels can get there through the treetops, and usually do, they don't ever have to touch the ground this way.
Red squirrel checking out the new platforms...
The little birds checking it out...
And a safer bath where the birds can splash unmolested!
Foiled!
I like her shop. My hairdresser's salon is much like that - all the beauticians have tool boxes like that for their stuff.
I remember hair like that, several hundred years ago when my hair was black instead of grey. :)
It really looks nice - I bet she spends her next week trying to figure out how to surmount the obstacles you've placed for her hunt.
She keeps circling it. I hope the squirrels figure out she can't get through and just sit and laugh and point :~)
