The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Did you ever get a ride set up with Tiff?

How long will it be if you wait that long?

Well then, of course we'll see as it gets closer if we can tell, but I'd say the end of Oct, early Nov. 2007:)

I haven't gotten ahold of her yet... I seem to remember her having some issue with this weekend, that she wanted to do it next weekend.

AND:), maybe since I'm more centrally located, we could get some of the others to come too. What a blast that would be:)

He'll get long in the toe and may flare some, but if he's just loafing around the pasture he should be fine 'till you get back. You can get him back on his regular schedule after that.

He might make it OK at 9 weeks, particularly if he's not riding and risking pulling them so much. Mine usually go 8 weeks.

You just don't want him pulling a shoe off and taking another chunk with it.

Warren, OH Cloudy, 69° (now)

Thursday 86° / 66°

Friday 76° / 59°

Saturday 77° / 60°

Sunday 82° / 63°

Hot today and windy, so something is blowing in. Looks great for the weekend.

Sun is shining, so I need to do some weeding.

Sounds like a good idea! I think I read somewhere about how to make home made cool packs by taking a sponge and soaking it in a mixture of alcohol and water then putting it in a zip-lock bag in the freezer.

There is a sort of chamois you can buy at Wal-mart that you put in cold water and wrap around your neck. We use it at dog shows to keep the dogs cool in hot weather. I have a 6 pack ice chest that I put ice and water in and keep it handy. Works well. I use it when I mow, something I have not had to do lately cause NO RAIN!

That's the worry, him losing one after he's gotten longer, and breaking it again:\

I'm really going to try to get back to some kind of at least lunging schedule next week. And hopefully get to ride a little. I guess if I hear him really starting to click a lot, I'd get him shod sooner.

Sounds like fun! Maybe me and BladeRider could team up and come out there in her trailer since it's got sleeping quarters. We'd have borrow somebody else's truck though. Lee and I keep saying we're gonna buy one, but then we say a lot of things. ;o)

Thats a great idea! I don't fly, so you got a place for a fifth wheel? A friend went to Oklahoma Farrier's College in Tulsa and we picked him up. Made it in one day, not a bad drive. Plus rug rats would be in school. Excellent time to travel.

Let's just go on Sunday. I've got a feeling he'll have to work on Saturday anyways coz he was off last Saturday. He and Billy rode at the Horse Camp. I'll call him this evening. I know I said that yesterday, but I'm gonna clip a note on my purse this time. I think I'm getting Oldtimers! ;o)

OK, I will tell Amy and Lee Sunday, Gary will like that better too cause he will get to sleep Saturday morning when he gets home. Chance of rain is supposed to be higher this weekend, 20-30% in the afternoon. Seems like everytime we go to Bankhead with you it is a torrential downpour! I guess it is ok as long as it rains at my house to! I will bring the rain gear and a change of clothes.

You bet. I've got plenty of parking space for trailers, and like I said we can always just set up beds down at our building.

Oh, this is going to be fun:)!!!!!
