The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Good morning:)

Moving slow around here today. I bought a book at the airport when I was leaving Tulsa in case I needed something on the plane. I only read a little of it. Got started again on it last night and read late, then got up and finished it this morning.

Now it's time to get some serious stuff done, dishes, vacuming, etc:\....

I want to mow here before it heats up, but I'm still sitting here at the moment.

Our house didn't end up too bad after a week's company but I finally vacuumed and did some laundry yesterday :~) We did good by eating out or at least getting delivery most nights while you were here, so the house wasn't bad. Now we're back to normal and there's dishes.

Well, I guess I'm the slob here. The house wasn't bad when I got home, but now....but I don't think Mack was here much while I was gone, and he didn't cook...

Not slob, just real life in comparison to vacation behavior :~)

I haven't tried that. I use Tri Tec. It's expensive but the cheaper stuff just didn't seem to work as well.

"No Place Like Home" by Mary Higgins Clark. It was just an alright mystery type. I've read so many of her books, I can figure them out pretty quick.

I was going to ride this morning, but then didn't because it was already so hot. It's suppose to cool down a bit the next few days. I'll go then.

Here is a link to Jeffersequine.com for the Equispot. You might have to copy and paste the whole line to your browser.

Yes it works like Frontline, etc. It goes in several places. On all four legs, along the topline and around the ears I think. You have to portion it out correctly so you don't put it all in one spot. Directions are pretty good on the box. I got mine at the Co-Op, I am sure any feed store would have it also.

So you don't need to spray at all? I wonder if it would work that long here. My spray is supposed to be good for 3 days but sometimes they need it 3 xs a day.

It does not work as good as a spray but it does cut them down some. If you cannot spray everyday or every other day then this is better than nothing. I use it mostly for the ticks. Jake gets covered when we go to Double Springs to ride. I guess give it a try and see how it works.

I think you can spray in addition to this stuff to but like Frontline I think you have to use a specific type of spray. I have not sprayed in addition to the Equispot.

I'll tell you something else I need and that's a pneumatic hoof pick. Dang, it's like concrete lately. I do two and I'm groaning and huffing and puffing.
