The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Sounds basic enough!

Update 173: Again, no real update this morning. Given the current situation where Barbaro appears to have been more uncomfortable lately (yesterday anyway) it is harder to get updates. This is not because people are not willing to provide them, but because I don't have the 'energy' to ask them. You can tell just passing Michael Matz's crew this morning that the same spirit of optimism is being tested. I assume there will be something coming from New Bolton concerning yesterday's events at some point, but I am sure they are overwhelmed too. We were warned that Barbaro would have good days, and not so good days. Lets hope we are just experiencing a little of the latter and things improve quickly.

Hopefully we will get positive news this morning. I can't imagine the bad feelings that they are trying to keep away. Even though Barbaro has had a great recovery, it's always hard to get through bad days.

Well, and in WA, sometimes we have to make allowances for weather, even in July :~)

I figure we can shuffle the trip to Mt. St. Helens for the day the mountain is expected to be the best, too, and do the 15 mile ride any of the days that look cool and overcast, too.

Today, for example, we have this at Mount St. Helens:

It's not broken.... it's fogged in :~)

We want to go on the day most likely to see this:

Thanks so much for the updates and links. I had not done much searching, on how he was doing. Gosh, I hope this horse makes it.

LOL,,,i kept waiting for the picture to load, and it finally dawned on me what you meant when you said "it's not broken:).

Yeah, I'd much rather go on a clear day:)

My SIL, was in Wa on business a few years ago and brought back a picture book for me of MtSt. Helens. I was showing it to Blake yesterday, but none of the pictures look as good as that bottom one.

I checked the weather forecast for Seattle this morning. It was only a 5 day one, but it was all in the 70's a partly clouded. Sounds very nice:)

Of course, all that fog could burn off by noon (I linked to the ~live~ image) so someone checking the thread later might think "What's wrong with it, looks gorgeous!"

Does it ever stay fogged in like that all day for a week at a time? :)

From November to March, probably :~D

This time of year, we should be able to expect good weather. We've been greyed in the last few days, which is unusual, which means next week, it'll probably be hot :~)

I just wish, if it's going to cloud over this week, it would at least rain. Paddock's gettin' all dusty :~)

...the fog is starting to roll back :~D

I had noticed that when I rolled back to look at your earlier post of the live cam. That's pretty cool!

On another subject, BladeRider just sent me this e-mail with these pics of a tiny baby fawn grazing with a couple of horses and they were just too cute not to post. Sorry if you've seen them before, but I just loved them. I had no idea that fawns were this small...

I especially love the last one. It looks like the horse is almost hugging the little fawn.
