The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

We put all kinds of stuff on horses and they adjust and ignore it. I was thinking a light brace when the cast comes off might keep him from tearing things up. I'm no orthopedist or vet though.

We just have to take our time and not stress over getting there quickly, after all, we're on vacation, right? :~D

This is Tiff's trailer. It has one divider, and we've usually travelled together with Bay in the front alone because he's the biggest, and two diagonally in the back. She's fit four in there before. I think it weighs more empty than mine does full :~D

That is possible. Mabe they will do that for breeding purposes, if nothing else.

Hey that sounds perfect, and just about what I was thinking.

I'm sorry about the flight times being so inconvienent for you all. That wasn't done on purpose.

I was thinking just riding a bit at your house on Thurs and visiting that first day and getting over the plane ride would be the best thing too. Your calendar looks great and works for me.

I'm really excited about all this, and still having trouble processing that this is really going to happen:) Big adventure for me, never been away from home this long, and plane ride by myself, and getting to ride on those beautiful trails. Still has a dream quality to me:)

Very nice pictures:)

The first thing I noticed was the horses tail in the first picture. Wow:), if a horse doesn't have a tail like that naturally, no amount of conditioner, wrapping, etc, will get it...very pretty:)

The terrain there reminds me alot of here.

Oh and you should try brushing that tail! It takes FOREVER! People would kill for that tail and we do nothing but brush it ocassionally.

That is some tail, isn't it!

Doesn't ~look~ like a hard ride, you're taking breaks in half the pictures :~) (ducking)

I thought about:).

Tails like that naturally, don't require much care.

Well, it is good to have a plan, but it's also good to be flexible.

One of Macks favorite sayings is about plans that don't work out just right, "Adjust, adapt, and overcome" he always tells me:). I tend to stress when things aren't "planned" and the plan changes...after 32 years tho, I'm alot better at adjusting, adapting, and overcomeing:)

Good Morning.

Thanks for all the nice compliments about Alison. She is doing so well for her first year, I am amazed. Our County fair starts next week and she is really excited. She is too young to be in 4-H, but will show in the leadline class.

We went to the gun club yesterday and I sold all my reloading components. One of the guys there gave Alison a clip board, with a score sheet on it and she was "keeping score". It was so funny watching her looking like she really was.

My mom was very spontaneous, my dad likes a well-thought-out plan, so I'm kindof a conflicted blend of the two :~D

It's good to have a plan or we won't remember to keep moving and we'll run out of time. :~)

I should have taken pictures of the hills but was to busy holding on and closer to the end I just did not care any more about picture taking! Sorry Hair.

Well I have learned over the years, the spontaneous plans usually turn out to be the most fun. But on a deal like this we need a bit of a plan, but you know if we decide to not keep moving, that's OK:). It is vacation after all. I don't want it to be work for any of us:)

"Adjust, adapt, and overcome"

That is what I tell my husband, just go with the flow! He get so frustrated and grumpy when things do not go as planned. I try to roll with the punches as much as I can. You will laugh at the mishaps later on so why not laugh in the face of them at the time.

The more you plan, the more chances of things going haywire. You need a basic simple agenda, THEN go with the flow:) My basic plan is Go to WA, on the 12th come home on the 18th...:)
