This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
The billy goat is darling. How old is he, do you know?
His natural head carriage is high, not out from the withers like a quarter horse, so I think he's destined for English or Hunter.
I like him! You could send him up here!
LOL - you buy him, I'll deliver him. :)
Well, I might be in the market about the time he's ready to go. Will you still have him then?
No, I'm going to try and sell him this year. Bob can't be training horses any more, so I'm trying to get rid of all temptation. I'm going to try very hard to get the horses down to four total.
Well, I don't feel like I want to do breaking and training either, but I hate to pass up a good horse :~D I like his style, he's my type. I just wish he was 6, with some trail miles behind him.
:) He will be a good horse, but right now, he's just a baby. He's big enough to start now, but shouldn't have any hard work until next year. It's really hard to remember with him, because of his size and attitude that he really is just a youngster.
Nice looking horse:). Bay's are my favorite:)
Becky
That's sad. Can he hire some help and just surpervise?
Billy is cute:).
I'm glad the tree didn't do more damage. Be good firewood for this winter.
Becky
The goat is 6 months old.
Thanks. He has one spot, about the size of a dime on his back :) nothing about him looks appaloosa.
No, it wouldn't be cost effective at all to hire someone - I thought about sending Quest and Tuffy out to trainers but I would never be able to get the money back on them.
Thanks, yes, Quest is going to make someone a real flashy horse I think.
Thanks. He's really an eye catcher when we show him. Tracey loves showing him, he always takes 1st and he behaves like a pro unless he has to stand by the announcer's booth.
I'm watching phase 2 of the extreme cowboy races. I love "watching" this stuff:')
Back through the back 40 with Becky - She likes the trees. She said the cool thing about Washington is in the shade it's actually cooler :~D
I think Alyson really got the biggest kick out of riding.
Then the best idea of the afternoon was born, some Rube Goldberg swings made from my circingle (a horse thing) an extra cinch, and our high line ties for the horses. :~)
This swing was cool because it would spin like a tire swing.
And then swing verson 2.0 - the cinch hung from two high lines...
Ruthy looks on... she neither rode nor swung... not sure how that worked out, maybe next time :~)
That swing looks like fun and those are some really good shots of the girls. Ruthy looks understandably tired.
