The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I feel for those there who will have those shortages... it was drought all winter, too, in the whole region, wasn't it?

I don't think we are as in bad of shape as Tx. but we have been way behind on rain for the last year. I know there was a shortage of hay this year. The feed stores just started getting some in the past few weeks. They had been out for a long time.

I've been trying to decide if I should mow at all out in the pasture. At least the weeds help hold the soil.

True enough, would keep it from blowing away in the wind, anyway.

I thought you would find it interesting to know: When I tell people around here I'm going to Wa. for a visit, the first thing most people ask is how close I'll be to Mt. St. Helens:). They think I'm nuts for hoping it is spewing while I'm there:). I hear things like how far away from it you had to be to escape...

I guess it would be like if you came here during tornado season:)

Well, wait till they see a picture of you posing in front of it :~)

If I came down there during tornado season, I'd expect you to prop me up in front of a tornado :~D

We have fog this morning, so there's moisture around, just not quite ~enough~ :~)

Ponies in the mist...

Pony fell on her butt.... I guess the grass is a little slick with dew. Didn't see it happen so I didn't catch the funny part :~)

LOL,,,it's so funny when one slips and falls:) They almost look embarrassed.

I love fog, especially riding in the woods when its foggy. It's so quiet and mysterious:)

Did you ever get to see the video of Cyn falling on her ass? I don't remember if that was one you could get or not.

It's going to be a hot one today. Our AC keeps freezing up.

Good Afternoon (late start today, too much gaming last night).

I did manage to get the lawn mowed yesterday. There was one spot that was still too wet and I didn't want to sink in and make those ugly tired marks. A fellow gamer in Dallas said they get a little bit of rain yesterday. Not enough to do anything. Quite breezy here today, but sunny. Horse show today for the granddaughter, but I do not think I will go. She has one on Tuesday, so I might go then.

She's probably just never been near one. If you ever get her in the saddle she will change her tune.

I think so too. That was probably just her momma talking. I really would like for her to come down NEXT summer when she is 18.

Besides, if she really wants to be a nurse she is going to have to toughen up some, regarding poop.

Raining here today too. Not storming just rain. We have a disturbance stalled in the Gulf. My kids are over here planting. They say this is the best time to plant because the ground is wet and it's cool.
