This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I never knew that. And you can put a bag under the seat, didn't know that either:)
Well, I'll look at different bags today, and then decide. Thanks for all the info.
Becky
They can go under the seat in front of you, if they fit there. The overhead compartments are bigger. And there will be people to help lift it up overhead if needed, if you can't with your wrist.

I'm thinking with this, I can try to get everything in the middle size one, if it doesn't work, I'll have to use the bigger one. But I'd have options, and the whole set is only $30. The back pack thingy is $20.
Becky
Hey - that's a really good deal. Can't go wrong with that!
I think this is the best way to go, as long as our Walmart has them...
Becky
Yeah - as long as they are reasonably well made, they ought to hold up long enough to be easily worth that price!
They took this on Ruthy and Ramius's trip up here from Florida day before yesterday
If I remember correctly from my trip to Seattle last year you can see Mt St. Helens from the plane can't you?
If you're approaching from the south, you can often see St. Helens.
I took this picture on our flight to Arizona last year. St. Helens was steaming that day, through a little hole in the clouds. This was early spring, lots of snow still.
This is Puget Sound, Port of Tacoma... if you know where to look under that row of little cotton-ball clouds, you could see our beach house :~D
I'm not sure I agree a hunnerd percent with your police work there, Hair. ;~D
If they're coming into Seattle, that pic's gotta be looking north, which would probably make Mt. Baker the one in the distance.
I guess every flight I've taken in and out of here has been to Denver (or Vegas), and they've all gone between Rainer and St. Helens/Adams.
Another thing you might want to do is to tie something highly visible and unique to the handle of your bag because EVERYBODY has a black or navyblue rolling bag and it's a real pain to try to read the name tag on every one of them as they go around on the baggage carousel to figure out which one is yours. Red bandannas tied to the handle are fairly common, so you might want to try something else. I used a loud striped sock one time and some strangely colored craft ribbon another time. But you don't want it to be too big or it'll get hung on the conveyors and they'll make you take it off.
Well, I wouldn't try to navigate by that cascades map for mountain placement, but for whatever reason, I couldn't get google to give me a better one. ;~D
Yes! That does help. I have a shamrock scarf tied to the handle of mine.
Talked to R&R on the phone... They did come in from the North... And that's St. Helens behind Rainier.
In that case, I agree a hunnerd percent with your police work, there. ;~D
Ya hear the one about the guy who couldn't afford personalized plates so he changed his name to J2L 4685? ;~)
GROOOOOAN!
GRIN :~D
