All these trees seem to have a cooling effect. Yes, I am in the Ozarks. It gets quite muggy in the evenings, but most nights ther's a lovely breeze with the windows open and I keep the fans going all the time. There's a ceiling fan in the living room, but I use regular fans in the bedrooms and this room...not really sure what you would this room...sort of a combination sitting room, dining room and office. Every now and then I break down and turn the air on for awhile in the afternoons, but mostly I've gotten by without it so far.
Sounds nice. Growing up, we always spent several weeks every summer in the Smokies. It was wonderful. The world was kinder and "gentler" then and we were able to sleep with the windows open. The nights were so chilly that we'd have to use blankets. Its almost always so hot and steamy here at night that we could never sleep w/o a/c. :) We use ceiling fans to reduce the demand for a/c so I sleep with the a/c on and for good measure the ceiling fans, too. LOL.
