strange how the music industry rules the world. No, Echo, the LAW rules the world... and property rights are 9/10ths of the law.

You see the difference between giving MS $150 for and OS and giving Apple $1000-$3000 for a computer? Pardon me. I have never "given" anything to Apple or Microsoft. I have purchased their products. How they or their stockholders allocate the profits from their sales is irrelevant to my purchase.

this one looks pretty good
Lastly we have the new Shuttle SN27P2 which sports a new front bezel and socket AM2 support. Based around the NVIDIA nForce 570 Ultra the SN27P2 has quite an impressive feature list. Aside from supporting socket AM2 processors it also has four 240-pin DIMM slots for up to 8GB of system memory. There are also three internal SATA II ports and one e.SATA port available -- plenty for the case capacity. A Realtek ALC882 high definition audio codec drives eight channels of audio and a front headphone output. Lastly a Marvell 88E1116 Gigabit PHY rounds out the features. Pricing of the SN27P2 is expected around $350-400 for the barebones.

Ubuntu rocks. I just upgraded both machines to Dapper Drake. Good stuff.
As for an iTunes like store, what about

They'll still admit the user experience is superior. I never found it to be so.
I think the most off putting thing about Apples is the Cult of Steve, peace be upon him.
You have a computer, it is a tool.Using it does not make you one of the favored of the Most High and you don't get a free drink at every bar. You do not need to spend five hours trying to convert me to the OS Way.
Granted that the Cult of Steve is very small even among the small percentage of Mac user but they are vocal and very annoying.
People who might have tried or bought a Mac will not do it because the perception has been made that Mac owners are annoying jerks.

We're talking about people who judge a computer by what they perceive to be its user demographic. PC's and Linux users are subject to prejudices also, based on the speaker's perception of "office drones" or "trendy hackers", respectively.

When I can right-click Google on a Mac, I'll convert there, too. If you use Safari, there's a Google search box built right into it. Highly convenient.

Apropos of nothing -- one of my favorite Peanuts comic strips culminates with Lucy Van Pelt asking, "have you ruled out stupidity?" ;')
Egad, I may be getting a 20" G5 iMac (last of the fast G5 iMacs, 2.1) this week. There are just two (one of each size) left at CompUSA, the floor demos, so I'll have to move quickly. :') Six months no payments, no interest, or so the Apple rep told me. They wouldn't move on the price, which is kinda dopey. I'd also want it maxed RAM (2 GB), and that added some cost. Should I do that myself?
A less attractive possibility is getting their last G4 Mac Mini, but graphics performance is better on the iMac (and of course, the iMac is a G5, which will be supported for a while).
Going down memory lane, I recall my Mac geek buddy getting all steamy about the Rio player, the first really popular mp3 carry-around. Not too sure there is such a brand any longer, and I think the original manufacturer sold the whole line to someone else years ago.
Probably when the iPod first came out. ;')

Do it yourself... you'll save money. Just make sure you get high quality RAM.

Dude stop arguing its a machine not person. People don't have to like everything you like and you don't have to like everything people like. Use your time on something useful.

boy let me tell you.. the new Whirlpool fridge.. oh man... it keeps your ice so cold... but yet not to cold.. your soda experience will be so much better than anyone else that has "other" types of fridges. This ice is so smooth, and the cubes have been designed in such a way to cool your drink faster and more efficient! LOL
