I was looking for citations of actual sales, not just Gartner's data.

RTFM

What manual? I don't see a manual. You've linked articles. Maybe you meant RTFA.

Try not to be such a prick.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^I was looking for citations of actual sales, not just Gartner's^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The problem with that is that a good portion of linux userbase is not because of sales.

^^^^^^^^Try not to be such a prick.^^^^^^^^^^^

I do appologize. I normally go back and forth between a few forums and a post rubbed me the wrong way. Apparently it carried over.

My apologies as well. My original post was an expression my surprise that someone would claim US Apple sales were only 2%.

Of course, that was not your claim at all. You very clearly stated you were speaking of worldwide sales....and as you imply, I did not read very carefully.

Be well.

If Apple were to become a purely software company, they'd have to scrap their OS business and become a vendor of Windows software. Not an option.

If Apple becomes a software company, I believe they will license Mac OS X to hardware vendors for resale with Apple-certified models.
