There will only be one David Ruffin and the group he led - The Temptations. Ruffin died today 15 years ago of a drug overdose. His driver took him to the hospital and dropped him off. At first no one knew who he was...a few days later family members claimed his body.
There are lot of websites dedicated to The Temptations, David Ruffin, Motown music, and the era that produced the music.
You're right, Michael MacDonald. I recoil so quickly from the song that in my haste, I incorrectly identified the murderer.
I won't argue with you; along with his wife-at-the-time Carly Simon they pulled a double murder on "Mockingbird" that I hope Charley and Inez Foxx never heard by accident. But I think you could put Linda Ronstadt in the running for building an entire career on doing lame covers of songs that had been done perfectly well in their original renditions -- "Blue Bayou" or "When Will I Be Loved" or "Hurt So Bad" or "It's So Easy" and on and on and on. It hurts just to recall them. Although God punished her by making her fat and stupid, just as He punished James Taylor by making him bald and stupid and married to Carly Simon.
Kendricks died 16 months, 4 days later on October 5, 1992.
