WASHINGTON, May 31 After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

LOL!
I better get some sleep.
Good night!
Good Night, Tulip!
Good Night, Stephen. Good Night, John. Good Night, Stephen and John's Banker.
Good Night, brace and bit. Good Night, plane and chisel.
Good Night, mallet. Good Night, punch.
Good Night, Awl.
"Was your seventeen year old girlfriend a complete drama queen?"
OH MY GOD!!
Not only that, she was brilliant. Got an acedemic scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania.....and her family was rich!
Me 2!
" Three months, tops."
Sounds about right.
That's okay, KP. I'd rather you have the storms than us! ;)
We had excitement, here, of the undesirable sort.
Tertia took a spill from her bike as she was speeding down a steep hill (against hubby's direct orders).
She has abrasions from her nose to her ankles, a golf-ball sized knot on her head, a split lip, and a significant chip from her tooth. However, she does not have any broken bones and she did not require stitches. She looks like a prize-fighter.
Hubby and I spent hours in the ER because I wanted to make sure that Tertia did not need x-rays.
How are all of you?
Oh, by all means, have fabulous weekends for the remainder of your days! Just don't do it because I said so! *chuckling*
Glad to know Tertia is only moderately injured. I hope it wasn't a permanent tooth! Our development is almost perfectly flat, but Tom's managed to bang himself up severely several times :-).
Starting a new week with several people worn out from camp, but hopefully they'll be recovered in a day or so. The last camper of the summer leaves next Sunday, so I'll have to be going through the packing list to see if we need to buy anything.
I finished my running-training program, but now my foot hurts again - the right foot this week, it switches from one to the other, probably because I never get quite "centered" because one foot always hurts! Der Prinz said I could have new shoes, which might help.
It must be time to feed Vlad again, and I've still got at least one kid who hasn't arrived for the day!
What's the point of chipping a tooth if it isn't a permanent tooth?! She has a dentist's appointment this afternoon to do whatever it is that they do to make teeth look normal again.
Eeeesh! Your husband is probably correct about getting new shoes. They cost the earth, but they are worth it.
Have fun with your campers, happy or otherwise!
I got a synthetic ceramic fill on the corner of a tooth about 10 years ago. It broke again, eventually, but that's because the teeth are still shifting. If they move a little more, I can just get the tooth removed, and nobody will notice!
Oh, sure! It's just like taking one brick out of your walkway, no one will ever notice or trip over it.
Actually, from your perspective, it will feel as though someone left the garage door open.
You should perhaps consider getting your tooth capped if it cannot be otherwise repaired. Hold on to as many of your real teeth as you can. Eventually, they'll be able to grow a new one from your nasal mucosa.
My lower front teeth are moving into a double row. That's why the corner broke originally, and why the synthetic fill eventually broke off.
Maybe I'll just get a whole new set of lower incisors, when they start growing them from nasal mucus!
Okay, that's different. But you would need braces to get them into proper alignment.
I'd recommend the "Invisible Alignment" technique. You wear clear plastic braces that are configured to gradually make the shift. It's more expensive than it should be, but it seems to be the best, least invasive technique.
By the way, it's the Nasal Mucosa, not mucus. It's the area in your nose that produces mucus. This may seem like the same thing, but it'snot.
Unfortunately, by then I had finished my evening...
Maybe I'll get braces for my 50th birthday :-).
Good Morning!
I am furious.
I am more infuriated at this moment than I have been in a decade.
If what happened EVER happens again, I shall meet the person responsible on the field of honor.
Barehands, blades, pistols, sledgehammers, I don't care what he chooses... we shall meet and dance, or he'll be damned for a coward as well as a lazy prick for all the world to know.
I just *cannot believe* that creature dares call himself an emergency-room physician!
was it an adult tooth?
