WASHINGTON, May 31 After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

Did you ever hear of the technique of sending the second page of a letter, as if the first one mysteriously disappeared?
Under the assumption that the recipient has read the first page, you load up the second page with all kinds of outlandish (forgive the word) situations, not to be unraveled until the very end of the letter, when you casually mention that it was about your "friend's story."
It's a good way to get in trouble with your parents.

My brother was into acquiring skill in marksmanship. In his time, that often meant a sacrifice in your hearing sensitivity.
I have always been careful about letting my hearing be damaged. Your ears are one sense that never shuts down.
