WASHINGTON, May 31 — After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

I'm up to my eyeballs in summer swimming and lessons. Primus and Secundus have trips planned for late summer which will affect "regular school calendar" lessons, so we're getting some of the work in early.
We're experiencing our first real heat of the summer. It was beastly hot today and we're expecting even more heat tomorrow.
Congratulations on getting down to your fighting weight! My fighting weight is considerably heavier, so I'm hoping *fingers crossed* that I'm proportionately taller than you are.
It sounds like Vlad is eating you out of house and home. Mine are doing the same, if their feeding schedule of every half hour on the half hour is to be believed. Personally, I think that children somehow glean calories from the air. No amount of food can support this kind of rampant growth.
Congratulations on turning 40 this week, too! Are you going to do anything special for your birthday?

I came home tonight to find my baby birds have fledged. I was expecting it any day, as they were getting loud and restless in the nest.
Momma bird is confused, she was still hanging around even though the nest was empty. I guess the babies are off with Dad, learning how to forage for seed and catch their own insects.
