WASHINGTON, May 31 — After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

arrogant prick of a new radiologist buzzed my house, scared the piss out of my dog, and set down in the hospital parking lot (into which car-driving employees and patients were going).
no barriers, no fences, no ground-crew, lots of FO in the LZ to be slung around. trees. power-lines. cars. proximally adjacent buildings and streets. in a residential neighborhood. just shy of 8am.
No one at the hospital knew about it ahead of time.
Both doc and the hospital admin braced the prick.
The prick stated, and I quote, "I never drive. I always fly, everywhere - it is much safer." to which Doc answered "Yeah... for YOU."
Little prick didn't seem properly chastened.
So...
I gave the FAA his tail number, stating that I'd forgive the stunt ONCE.
It seems the FAA gave the arrogant prick a little call.
It seems little prick has gone bye-bye - he took off in his little toy at around 11am.

Sounds liek a no-no to me. Hospitols are supposed to have helipads for emergency flight type operations, but not for general doctor commuting. Landing in the parking lot "just because" is a MAJOR no-no.
If he's flying that low, I can think of several things that would ruin his day.
He keeps it up, the pilot may well lose his license.

I think our kids are lazy because we haven't encouraged them to be otherwise. It's much easier to let a child be "entertained" by TV or a computer than it is to actually check on what the child is doing and limit computer/TV times to reasonable amounts.

Interestingly enough, I'm all for commuter aviation and abolishing the FAA.
Then again, I'm also for being able to respond to inconsiderate a-holes buzzing MY property with lethal force.

I control the network access for the home so it is quite easy to "put the net into maintenance mode".

My kids were limited to one hour of TV for each two hours they played outside or with inside games if the weather was bad.
They like to be outside.

We limit the amount and type of TV Ana gets to watch. Some of the more educational stuff from Nick Jr. or PBS. We try and spend a LOT of time outside. Mostly over at the neighborhood park. Nice landscaping, mostly upper-middle class folks, awesome playscapes for the kids to run around on.
I like being outside. Texas gets hot though and that is something Zon does not like a lot.
