WASHINGTON, May 31 After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

Locked my keys in the van at Sam's. Goof afternoon, or should I cut my losses and go to bed now?
'Mornin' Steve! Are you still in CA?
LOL!
I locked my keys in my car twice...years apart. I now carry a spare key in my purse, "just in case."
I hope that's the worst of what the day has to offer you...get it over with early!
Yeah, just about to leave for the airport to fly home.
Southwest, here I come!
Don't do that!!
Safe journey!
Morning!
Today I'm getting ready to see the 5th doctor in the last 10 days.
I still have a sore throat and tummy problems.
Life can be interesting.
Good morning, to you!
How goes it for you today?
Lovely day here. Temp and humidity are good. Makes all the difference. ;)
My husband came and rescued us; his office isn't far from Sam's.
I loathe doctors. I resist going unless the need is dire.
I'm sure sorry about your throat and tummy problems...My throat is constantly sore and dry from sicca syndrome (affects all mucous membranes) so I always have ice water, even in the winter.
And yah...I know about the tummy trouble, too. I don't envy you, but I'll send up a little prayer so you can at least receive some comfort and easement.
I was waiting for the kids to show up, but it's nearly 10:00 and they haven't arrived. I won't worry...they will get here, or I'll get a phone call. I hope.
The temps are a little lower today, but the humidity is still up...25%. That makes it a little uncomfortable for those of us who like the dry heat.
:o])
I can live with a lot if I know what's going on...It helps when you don't use medicines that make it all worse...
Good man!
The last time I locked myself out, it cost me $25 (I think it was '96) and since then I've spent the $1-2 it costs for an extra key.
Did you get all your shopping done?
That's true. The spinal arthritis I've been battling for years might fell someone else, but I refuse to allow it to own me. I take OTC meds at night so I can sleep...the rst of the stuff will just have to wait its turn...;o]
That's like me with my bilary problems. Hurts sometimes sooo bad, but I know what it is and how to treat it. But I've had the problem for 30 years or so. You get used to dealing with some things.
WOW 25% humidity! What's that?? ;)
Ours is 55%, with 71F temp. ;(
Hope your kids arrive safe and sound.
The way I look at, if you've lived with pain for any length of time, you get to where you can decide which pains to give in to. If they don't stop me in my tracks, I don't give in.
(Dr. 'Face's Extreme Remedy...)
We did. We usually only buy a few things at Sam's: diapers, milk, bread. Today we also bought several large packages of soap and some towels, and took them to our church. A group is going to Jamaica next week to help in the Missionaries of the Poor shelters, and they gave out a list of things they wanted to take.
Our humidity should be about 8%, max, and the temp in the triple digits, but we're getting the monsoonal moisture up from AZ and though it's not as bad as they get, it's still difficult to deal with. The rainfall here is only about 3" a year.
It's my grandkids, (my son-in-law's kids) and the mom may have made other plans that I don't know about. So I'm not going to worry.
I think shopping for other people/causes is a lot more fun than shopping for myself. I usually give in to "frivolity" when I shop for someone else. When I shop for me, I'm far too practical...
