How I looked forward to his editorials!

I can't seem to get as much reading done these days. Writing takes a bit longer.

I'm starting to have weird hours again - going to bed around 2 am (or later) and getting up between 7:30 and 8. I think I'm going to end up with an indentation in this chair from working on the computer so much (yet not being connected to the internet most of the time)!
Winston seems to be doing fine. He's in his own little world.
I feel a lot older than my age. I'm surprised it didn't give me a 90...
Most of my writing of the first book was on a computer not connected to the internet.
After I got hooked on doing poems, I needed the connection. Or vice versa.
Even as an 11 and 12 year old brat, I looked forward to them...between the editorials and the give and take in the Brass Tacks section...
I don't do much fiction reading any more. Have trouble finding the type of things I like to read. I've been screaming through a collection of books on terrorism I bought this week...about half of them were written before we went into Afghanistan, and some before 9-11. It's interesting to see what the analysts got right, and what they missed.

I don't connect to the internet to keep myself from being distracted. LOL! I get a lot more accomplished when I focus on one task.
I think I'm just losing steam. And I'm sure it also comes from stress, sitting at a computer all day, lack of sleep, lack of exercise, poor diet, etc...
While I was on one of my trips, I picked up "Guns, Germs, and Steel."
Quite an interesting viewpoint. I didn't quite finish it, but I got more than halfway through it before I had to put it back in the library. I got the gist of it.
It gives a good historical setting to the world we find ourselves in now, at least as far as cultures and cultural ascendancy is involved.
Strange though, that the Cradle of Civilisation is now the bone-pit of it.

Well, let's see. Subtract the true love and replace it with "look and feel the age" and that's quite literally me in a nutshell...

I think you need to give yourself a schedule which includes plenty of time for writing, but also fits in some exercise, dining out (on the cheap, of course!), and occasional visiting. Maybe you could arrange a change of scenery while you do your work.

Hmmm... The only place I can think of to go to for a change of scenery while I work is the library, but I'd have to get one of those tiny rooms.
And since I'm not teaching, and don't have to actually be anywhere at any particular time, I have trouble with schedules. I had to rely on my computer clock to figure out today is Monday!

I almost got that one...looked interesting.
In my heart of hearts, I am a socio-economic historian. Or perhaps, more clearly, I like to study the interplay between world views, technology, and economic and social reactions to events over the course of time.
Political history makes a lot more sense seen in such contexts.
This is my avocation - my hobbies, my reading, and some of my work is all tied up into this...no doubt John Campbell planted some of the seeds of looking at things this way in my head.
