This is the same situation, All day today there have been Da Vinci Code documentaries which all universally show this is just a flight of fancy of some french guy who was trying to say he was really french royalty.

That one never purported to be anything but fiction. dan Brown has been rather dishonest, though, and it seems (from people I talk with and the polls) that many people are duped by it.

Yes, but in that film
nobody pretended that
the Declaration

of Independence

was only a cartoon scroll
that Jefferson found

in a cereal
box
. That film showed respect for
its subject matter.
