Absolutely the truth! My hubby and I noticed it and thought it was disgusting also. I think it's fine for Kat's parents to be happy for her, but there is such a thing as decorum. The camera panned to them and they are grinning from ear to ear JUST after the announcement. It would have been more appropriate to save that for a little while later, as Taylor's family did. It says a lot about one's character and also one's upbringing. Taylor and his family are from the south, known for it's hospitality. Kat and her family come from L.A. where everyone thinks they are the center of the universe. It's as simple as that.

Thanks for your informative post. We have both texting and the west coast, advantages I guess.

My contestant was Elliott but I want to help save Taylor from the 19Evil plot (if it exists) to put McDorothy in as the winner at the last minute.

I believe that Kat has the advantage on both counts... texting and West Coast votes.

It will take a strong effort from the Soul Patrol, especially those on the Left Coast to put Taylor over the top.

I've watched the Dial Idol numbers carefully over the past several weeks... Kat's numbers consistantly improve after the West Coast lines are open. Also, it appears that the actual results have consistantly shown Kat in a higher position that the Dial Idol results and (absent any manipulation by the folks at 19E) it would mean that Kat is getting more text votes than anyone (as they aren't measured by Dial Idol).

This is my first year to watch American Idol, and obviously my first year to be on a FR Idol thread. Is there always this much petty, tripe, self serving, condescending, cheap, below the belt, shots taken at the contestants?

The Kat bashing on this thread makes me believe that many of the bashers need a CAT scan of their own. The fact is, that any of the final top 8 would make an excellent American Idol and would have deserved to win. Of the final two, I will be very happy with either a Taylor or a Kat win.

I'm not sure why everyone is so quick to conclude that Kat's parents were "rejoicing" that Elliott was voted off. It takes a minute to process that the 33.02% didn't belong to their daughter! They're her parents for goodness sake! Of course they are going to cheer for her. This is the Olympics for them, they are allowed to be excited that she is moving on to the finals.

Remember that the camera can cover only so much, the cheering may have come later from Taylor's parents, but we didn't get to see it on the air. It's not like they need to be worried about his moving on to the next round. If I were Kat's parents and I had just watched the footage of Elliott in Richmond, I would have been worried. I don't think their reaction was intended to be at anyone's expense. Can't we take the high road, please?

To AlexPaulsenJr: Yes, I agree! I amazed by this ugly bashing. Before you judge people based on view from your living room sofa, please think of the hours, months and years of time they spent working to get to this point. These people didn't wake up one day and be able to sing. They all EARNED it!
