It *is* a tough call! LOL! Which is why I am willing to argue about it. :) And if it comes down to a Kat-Elliott final, I have to admit I don't think I can bring myself to vote for the diva. But if it's Taylor-Elliott ... that would be really hard. I am just a little worried that 19E would chew up Elliott and spit him out. But I think they might find Tay-Tay a tougher nut to crack. Just my perception, of course.

Ummm I think that that 'blind' comment indicates what they vote for.

LOL! Yes, probably so. BTW, I thought Taylor was fabulous last night with his 2nd rendition of 'Jailhouse Rock.' I watched Good Day L.A. this morning while getting ready for work (will post a report soon). Steve Edwards, Dorothy Lucey, and Jillian Barbieri were questioning whether or not it was fair to give Taylor a second performance like that.

Last night, before I saw the show and while just reacting to what people were saying here, I thought it probably was scripted. But after watching it, I don't know. If it was scripted, they didn't clue Taylor in on it, because he seemed surprised by the request.

I love both Taylor and Elliott at this point, and I haven't been really high on any AI contestant since Kelly Clarkson.

How cool, misterrob! Are you going to be able to see him? I'm SO happy he's in the top three, and am really crossing my fingers that it's a Taylor-Elliott finale. Elliott has been counted out so many times, and I'm sure most people are expecting him to go for sure next week. Not me. Katharine should have been gone before Chris, and like you, I'm expecting a backlash against her from Chris' fans.

I think it was scripted. You know why?
Because T was completely different singing it last night, as if someone mentioned he should interact with the audience more.

He's never done that before ~ like patting that little girl's head.
It was a nice touch.

During Queen week, Elliott sang "Somebody To Love" which was another home run IMO. Also "It Had To Be You" stood out when they did the standards with Rod Stewart. He was relaxed and looked really comfortable on stage. He even told Paula that finally he felt "locked in".

Even after that though he's been in the bottom three, so who knows?

I really like Chris, and thought he would win, but I always voted only for Elliott.

Hi doodlelady. Don't worry about Chris. He'll be OK. As for Elliott, of the final four, he is the one genuine amateur. He's come the farthest and had to overcome the most difficulties of any AI contestant to make the final three so far in series history.

As I've mentioned before, my father was deaf in one ear, so perhaps I appreciate Elliott's handicap more than most. If Elliott can take that one last step into the finals, then win or lose, it will be THE most heartwarming story of the year.

In an aside, although I have been supporting Elliott all season and am thrilled that he has come so far (which must be terrific for his ego -- which I think perhaps he needs), I hope he does not win. I think that if Kat wins, she will be happy as a pig in sh-- ... uh, whatever ... because she will absolutely fit right in with the sort of stuff 19E wants the winner to do. Alternatively, if Taylor wins, I think he has the grit and the gumption to resist the machine in order to put out the music that he wants to put out. But if Elliott wins, I think he is inexperienced in this sort of thing, and appears to be very willing to please people ... and I'm afraid 19E will shove him into a niche that he won't fit into. If they make him do some crappy power ballad stuff for his first album, that could be a real career-killer for him. And therefore, because he seems like such a nice person and also has considerable talent that shouldn't go to waste, I really hope he doesn't win. If he makes the top two, I won't be voting for him, I think. (Although I'm willing to be persuaded otherwise, if anyone wants to argue with me! :)

I think your assessment is accurate on the above.

this next week should be a good week. I like when Clive is there. I think the judges and Clive tend to pick songs that the contestants can shine with. I don't recall though how the judge ones work. Do they all three agree on a song for each contestant or does each judge pick a song for one contestant. Hope Simon doesn't get Taylor! lol

Pinging ya to my post about Chris being offerred lead singer job....most likely Fuel.
Fuel needs Daughtry more than vice versa, if name recognition means anything. (LOL)

Re: the rest of this AI season... I really hope Taylor wins, but I still ain't gonna watch.

I think it was scripted.

Cynic that I am, I certainly understand why people think it was scripted. I was sure looking for signs of it, but Taylor seemed genuinely surprised.

Glad you are feeling better!!

I wonder if that is the same nasty disease we had going around up here in IL. I had it and I think mystery-ak, did too.

It came with very, very congested lungs, horrible cough, stuffed nose, extreme fatigue (so tired that you can hardly function), dehydration and horrible dizziness. My doc said that the dehydration and dizziness was so bad in some people that she actually had to hospitalize a few people for just that. Plus a few very elderly people had to be hospitalized because the congestion in the lungs was so bad they could hardly breathe. It was nasty.

I'm leaning towards "not scripted" at the moment, because after watching it again, Taylor really mangled the lyrics! He had Spider Murphy not only on the sax, but sitting in the corner, making a break, etc!

Maybe it was semi-scripted in that they told him a little before the show to do it again, but he didn't actually rehearse it more.

SPB=Schlocky Power Ballad

I think you have just coined a phrase that will become a standard one here on the AI thread!

I always love your analyses, Hetty!

(This just came into my head --sung to My Way)

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I’ll say it clear,
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain.

I'll sing the Schlocky Power Ballad,
Although it hurts my inner-ear ways,
Tonight, I'll compromise,
I'll sing it THEIR WAY.

Apple Blossom: Feeling better about Eliot's chances? I'm thinking that scenerio last week, where fans of everyone else give their votes to Eliot, might be happening.

You sure can be proud of Eliot's performance Tuesday. It was awesome!!

I don't know if you read every dingle post or not but someone pointed out that that they might have let Taylor do JAilhouse Rock last night because he never gets to prform a song on Wednesday nights because he isn't in the bottom three or two.

When they first had him do I got a little concerned that he might be leaving. It might have just been a time filler, who knows.

If Elliott should win, the first thing he should do is hire an excellent entertainment industry lawyer. He would, indeed, be a babe in the woods in this cutthroat world.

Taylor has the experience of already dealing with contracts for his club and fair appearances. Also, he gets advice from his dad, a professional (dentist) who knows his way around.

Kat has her parents, who are deeply involved in the Hollywood scene, and have lots of connections. In a way, I hope she wins, because her career lights will flame out quickly. It couldn't happen to a nicer family.

Taylor did seem surprised and if you watch it gain, you will see that he had to turn around and go back to the little girl. I think she might have called him and turned to her and patter head. If you listened to The Fall, one of his orignals, there is a short clip and then there is a full version. They are different, because he sings differently as the mood strikes. I think that might explain little diference last night.

Just google it and it comes right up. Television without pity - and it can be harsh, also lotsa bad words.

But absolutely the best insight and critique I have found on the web, and also occasional evenings of laughing for hours while reading.
