The most useful and descriptive post about the history of the U.S. and the Barbary Coast I've ever seen on this board.

Many thanks for it. Perhaps the feckless clowns and assorted traitors in D.C. would benefit from your sending it to them.

(SAJ, you've GOT to quit deluding yourself...sigh).

Despite his early lesson from the Moslems Jefferson instructed his followers to sabotage the building of the American Navy which Washington and Hamilton tried to do. The democrat-republicans managed to reduce the naval build up by half. His ridiculous view was that we should have NO navy merely gunboats for our coastal waters. He was willing to allow all our commerce to be carried by foreign shippers.

Jefferson was the most overrated president we have ever had. Only by the grace of God was Washington and Hamilton allowed to build up the federal government and the national financial structure so that our nation was secured. Jeffersons minions fought every positive measure with lies, deception and near treason much like their descendents, the RATS of today sabotage our National Security.

He and his followers weakened our military at every opportunity and it was so weak that by the time of the War of 1812 it only took 5,000 Redcoats to run the government out and burn Washington. That was part of the legacy of Jeffersonianism. No wonder the Left has always lionized him and crucified Hamilton. The more I learn of Jefferson the less respect I can have. No wonder Washington refused to have his name spoken in his presence after leaving office.

I remember seeing a documentary on this just after 9/11. It seems so obvious. That's why they hate us. Talk about keeping a grudge.
