The envelope would tie a person to that room. They were looking for something in that room to link him to the alleged rape.

When I was at Duke, we didn't receive mail at our dorm , we had a P.O. Box. Maybe things have changed in five years, I don't know

There is boiler plate language in every search warrant to the effect of "and such documentation show ___ was the owner/occupant of said premises"

The search warrant return is made to the "court" showing what was seized, when and where.
I didn't know they used a P. O. box system, so a subpoena on the school's housing records would have been more effective.
As I've said previously, this smells to the heavens above.

You're right. All mail went either to "Duke Station" in the Bryan Center or to "College Station" on East Campus. You kept your mailing address and mail box the whole time you were there. Even off campus people kept it. You couldn't change your mailing address everytime you moved rooms--that would have been tough. Even after moving to west, I kept the college station address. Also, except for the burgers, isn't this house on top of East. What happened to people taking the bus from east to west?
