The victim, a single mom who turned to exotic dancing to support her two kids, attends North Carolina Central University, a mostly black college in Durham.

She plans to keep a low profile until the students go on trial to avoid inflaming tensions in the black community, where opinion is running heavily against the privileged students.

One of the most hurtful things for the woman about the media circus surrounding the case, the cousin said, is the tendency to assume the worst about her because she is a stripper.

You're right. All mail went either to "Duke Station" in the Bryan Center or to "College Station" on East Campus. You kept your mailing address and mail box the whole time you were there. Even off campus people kept it. You couldn't change your mailing address everytime you moved rooms--that would have been tough. Even after moving to west, I kept the college station address. Also, except for the burgers, isn't this house on top of East. What happened to people taking the bus from east to west?

What time was the allegation of rape actually made by the accuser? Was it before or after the physical examination at Duke hospital? (I assume before, as there is only a half-hour between "DPD takes AV to Duke Hospital" and "DPD changes incident report to include alleged rape", but I don't know.)

I'll mention an unmentionable here. They stopped dancing fairly early, and little princess was angry about the "broom stick" comment. She's possibly intoxicated, and goes to the restroom to "do her nails." I suggest that she might have gone to the restroom to provide oral sex for money, and she may or may not have had any customers. If she had several customers she would have been in the restroom for a long time. With no, or few customers, she would have left early.

On the other hand, if you had ask me at the time, I would have swore that neither of my two would consume alcohol at college either. Didn't hear those stories until they had been out of college for 10 years.

There were more details about the cabbie returning to the house and witnessing the verbal altercation between the boys and one of the strippers. Now if Crystal had really been raped and Kim had really been alarmed at how Crystal was a "different woman" -- 180 -- from the start of the event, wouldn't they have fled? Would they have bothered to exchange insults? I mean, if you feel threatened, you not gonna hang around to engage in a verbal altercation.

They had no fear of those boys.

I don't think Crystal and Kim were ever separated during the night. Not long enough for one to be raped. One of Kim's initial statements to some source was she didn't believe it happened. I am sorry, I can't tell you where I read that other than inone of the links from an earlier thread.

Owl, I do know the cultures. I do not fail to realize the drug addiction, and the "whole" nine-yards. It is an ugly world at the bottom of the food chain. And yes, they do CHOOSE to do these things.

And before we get to disagreeing again, just because they are in serious denial, or simply stuck inside the pit, does NOT negate that they are making choices. It isn't MY fault. Nor yours.

Intervention can work, sometimes. The point is to never stop trying to bring them out of that culture.
