The victim, a single mom who turned to exotic dancing to support her two kids, attends North Carolina Central University, a mostly black college in Durham.
She plans to keep a low profile until the students go on trial to avoid inflaming tensions in the black community, where opinion is running heavily against the privileged students.
One of the most hurtful things for the woman about the media circus surrounding the case, the cousin said, is the tendency to assume the worst about her because she is a stripper.
"She's a victim and she's a human being," the cousin said. "Her occupation couldn't justify that a crime like this was committed."

Would that be the choking?
Is he now saying that there was no choking?
Because they sure weren't charged with any of that.
..... .. Check this out!
The News & Observer has been consistent and resolute in calling the woman claiming Gang-Rape - a DANCER.
Their coverage has been consistent for a month and they've defended it in editorials and responses to writers.
Well, on 4/20, they run this large Title:
STRIP club owner, lobbyist appear at courthouse
Okay, why NOT a DANCE Club owner? Where's the consistency?
Or is it they don't have any problem using pejoratives in regard to the BUSINESS Owners, but the women working there .. they are virtuous, or worthy of a better title?

The Seligmann alibi doesn't say which team member he was with in the trip to the bank and fast food place. The DA is going to have to play Russian Roulette in selecting #3.
We are on the same page. I read some of your posts on another thread.
Nancy Grace, Susan filan, Crier.. These people HATE so much they cannot grasp basic principles.
I've had it with putting on Jackets, invisble, undetectable condoms, smiling victims, and 30 days to ID your assailant.
Argh!
Depends on his voter base....I think his May primary will be more watched than a presidential election...
I have a question: why is that girl standing at the back door? Is that when she claims they had left the house and gone to Kim's car and she had gone back for her shoe?
If so, doesn't that cut the "rape time" even more? Kim had to change close, too, before she went outside to get in the car.
Maybe she did go back to the house to get the shoe, found they had locked her out and that's when somebody carried her to the car after she fell.
Depending on how long the player took her to the car talked to Kim, they could very well have left just before she made the first 911 call.
And maybe the reason the house looked empty was because the players didn't realize it was the police, but thought it was those girls coming back and just kept quiet.
That makes them inadmissable right?
And offend the voters in Durham? No way.
They need a venue change. I'm telling you right now. Don't you remember all the white people that were shocked that the O.J. Jurors could ignore the mountain of evidence. They had NO IDEA how the black community was viewing the case.
If no venue change, this jury will come back will a guilty verdict in 30 minutes.
Exactly! Especially since the woman attorney (Sutton?) said her client, a resident, was watching Letterman.I don't think he would have left the house and he didn't want anything to do with the strippers from the start (according to Sutton).
If Nancy Grace, Crier, Susan Filan, Kimberly Guilfoyle, and Greta's panel can disregard the alibis and all the inconsistencies... You better believe a black jury will easily ignore all evidence pointing towards innocence.
That's what the DA KNOWS. His standard of proof is SO LOW after he gets his jury.
.
Thanks everyone, I have to go to bed!
A judge would have to rule that the manner in which the ID was made was so unfair as to be contrary to constitutional requirements of due process. If the process was in fact as described in the news report, yes, I could see how a judge could reach that conclusion and exclude the photo ID evidence.
Apparently the procedure may also have contravened recent North Carolina rules applicable to preparing photo lineups, but I don't know whether the remedy for violating that is to exclude the evidence or rather slap the police detectives on the wrist.
Thanks for that. I hope the voters in Durham recognize the mistakes here and hold someone accountable
Didn't Nancy Grace and Kimberly Guilfoyle say a Woman would never do this?
http://www.wral.com/news/8855692/detail.html
Woman uses Vagina To Smuggle Live Grenade
This must be wrong! Nancy said they're certain things women don't do.
One could look at it from the other way; everytime a man sees a woman he can wonder if she'll destroy his life by making false rape/sexual harassment allegations.
The boys the cab driver picked up later weren't IDed by Crystal, so what difference does it make? what a stupid comment to make.
Remember the case of the girl who accused her preacher father of rape? (With the help of 'therapists', of course) They locked him up. Ruined his life and reputation. Then years later someobody thought of giving the girl a medical exam and ... ooops.... turned out she was a virgin.
That is not a bad strategy. Forces the DA to lay out his case in advance without knowing the alibi of Finnerty. Might also explain why Finnerty left town. Keeps him from talking to anyone about the case.
