The victim, a single mom who turned to exotic dancing to support her two kids, attends North Carolina Central University, a mostly black college in Durham.

She plans to keep a low profile until the students go on trial to avoid inflaming tensions in the black community, where opinion is running heavily against the privileged students.

One of the most hurtful things for the woman about the media circus surrounding the case, the cousin said, is the tendency to assume the worst about her because she is a stripper.

"She's a victim and she's a human being," the cousin said. "Her occupation couldn't justify that a crime like this was committed."

Those guys are well spoken nuts. I could only listen to the first 10 minutes because it was getting so far fetched.

For those of you that haven't listened, a well spoken guy who says he has a son at Duke was very disappointed with the school. He doesn't think a physical rape occurred but a "rape" of the girl since the players were using the girl as entertainment. By that measure, any guy that has ever entered a strip club is guilty of some sort of "mental rape" against the women.

Somehow, because the boys were wealthy, white and able to satisfy their sexual appetite in other ways, the intent of the boys was to humiliate the black, poor girl by having her entertain them.

The host then tried to tie privilege into it. Somehow they are unaware that even poor people can hire strippers.

I mentioned that yesterday - I don't trust the guy. As time goes by, I feel that his story will morph into something very ominous. I think he wants to be like the limo driver that drove OJ to the airport.

Also, he is black and has to live in the area. I'm sure he is under a lot of pressure to "be sure he remembers everything right".

That's pretty bad, but I've seen worse. One was titled "Blue Devils Made Them Do It" by Allan Gurganus at the NYT. Another was by a freelance writer published in the N&O talking about every time she passed a white man on Duke's campus she was wondering if he was the one who would rape her

What really pisses me off is that rape accusers are always anonymous and get away with false accusations. That is not right.

That's exactly what will happen and then --gasp-- she will file a civil suit. Picked the two richest ones and hope that the parents will pay to make it go away.

I do not think there a chance in hell the players parents give her a dime.

If this stripper is afraid of what a criminal trial would bring out, she would not want to be anywhere near a civil case, where the rules of evidence are not as strict.
Imagine all the things we would hear.

It's not the function of the SANE nurse to decide if rape occured.
She should just document and assess the pts physical and emotional condition, collect evidence and offer support and counseling.
Nifong and the media have claimed that the nurse said the injuries were consistent with rape.
The nurse should have just stated the facts , not drawn conclusions. Which she may well have done.
Nifong has at various times said the exam showed " vaginal trauma " and at other times " swelling ."
Which I have said is consistent with a lot of medical conditions unrelated to rape- STD's, infection, hormonal changes, etc.
The nurse is going to be DennisFonged on the witness stand.
It's interesting to note that we have not heard about any injuries to the anal area or the external genitalia from the brutal oral assault.
