Is it not some sort of curious intellectual delight to hear about the discovery of yet another Gnostic gospel, this time the Gospel of Judas, a scruffy ol' tract that's been lying around for years, which would seem to reveal Christianity's second-favorite villain to be, well, not at all the sniveling ass who turned Jesus over to the cops for a fistful of hummus money, but actually a sly and secret conspirator of his pal Jesus, . . .

You've been warned!
This was written how many year after the Bible? what a tard. has the same amount of credibility as the davinci code... and thats none
Ah, only one problem, Mr Morford. The "gospel according to Judas" has been proven to be a fraud. It certainly is old, as it was written between 300 and 500 AD, but obviously at the time it was written Judas Iscariot was long dead.
Right, Missy Morford is the first place to go for theological discussion.
Exactly how does a book, written long after the supposed author is DEAD, prove that "you just can't be too sure about all that God stuff"? Isn't this guy a homosexual? So, of course, he's going to grasp at chaff like this because "that God stuff" calls his sexual proclivities "an abomination" and all that practice such things shall NOT inherit the Kingdom of God.
I was going to say he was a homosexual just from his hatred for the Bible but I don't know for sure.
In the study of sin, the first stages of disobedience are simply rejecting God and His plan. If left unchecked, the unregenerate will further degenerate into attacking God.
This points to one interesting aspect of evil, which even Satan is unable to control. Even Satan is unable to control sin. He might parlay human good and evil into his policy of evil, to produce a counterfeit perfect environment independent of God, i.e. a cosmic or worldly system, but he will still not be able to prevent sin.
The mantra of the godless left:
Right is wrong up is down freedom is slavery knowledge is bondage god is dead Right is wrong up is down freedom is slavery knowledge is bondage god is dead Right is wrong up is down freedom is slavery knowledge is bondage god is dead Right is wrong up is down freedom is slavery knowledge is bondage god is dead Right is wrong up is down freedom is slavery knowledge is bondage god is dead Right is wrong up is down freedom is slavery knowledge is bondage god is dead Right is wrong up is down freedom is slavery knowledge is bondage god is dead Right is wrong up is down freedom is slavery knowledge is bondage god is dead
Just to place the "Gospel of Judas" into a proper perspective, as it was written over 200 years after the event. Assertions that the "Gospel of Judas" overturns the veracity of the Bible (Scripture) is analogous to claiming The Communist Manifesto overturns the veracity of the US Constitution, Federalist papers, Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights.
It is as though antiChristian authors today, might as well claim our interpretation of the Constituion, Federalist Papers, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence are all mistaken interpretations of our founding fathers' intent, because the Communist Manifesto reveals a different perspective.
Simply nuts!
crazy stuff.
There NEVER were more than the four original Gospels commonly used - that is why the Bible has four. Nothing was left out of the canon - in fact, books like 2 Peter were allowed in so as to be on the positive side.
One can argue the resurrection, the divine nature of Jesus and more. You cannot win an argument on how we got Scripture.
"The surprising Gospel of Judas proves you just can't be too sure about all that God stuff."
I'm not certain God is all that sure about all that Morford stuff.
BINGO!
Morford takes any and all opportunities to attack Christianity.
This writer simply adores mocking God. A very unhappy person they will be on judgement day...
IMHO - Discrediting the "Judas Gospel" based only on its age is not the way to go. All of the works that are considered the gospels were written between 60 and 200 years after the events they describe, by people who not only were not there, but (in some cases) were not even alive during the time in question.
There very well may be very valid reasons to discredit this writing - The Church fought bitterly for years, trying to decide which known writings should be included in or excluded from their bible. Simply discrediting the document based on its age appears (to me) to be a glaring example of bigotry.
What a whacky world. There is an atheist at work that believes the entire bible is a hoax but yet he believes the gospel of Judas is undeniable fact. He has repeated stated over the years that Jesus never existed. When I asked him if Jesus never existed how can the gospel of Judas be accurate when Judas and Jesus were working together... The next thing I heard was crickets.
That's exactly the type of response I think should be used to discredit Mr. Morford's opinion. You accurately point out that he's caught himself in a logic trap. Your conversation with him, and his history of anti-Christian histrionics, lend themselves to credible refutation.
