I'm so sorry for your loss. It sure sounds like your dad was a wonderful person, and I can feel the pride and love in your words. Your dad will watch proudly over you in this life, and I have no doubt that you will carry on his ways and make him smile. May he rest in peace; he served our country when he was sorely needed.
Maybe that is the wrong thing to say. Rest in peace? If you are weary, yes, but I would look forward to a fullness of life unknown here with lots of interesting things to do and see :-). I don't know what will be allowed in that life; there are some things I'd really miss, but I guess those fall into the category of "worldly attachments" even though they are harmless hobbies.

I thank God that He gives our country men like your father, whose sacrifices have kept our nation free.

I myself, have two parents that were WW2 vets....
my dad was on the Essex, the Battaan, the Munda Bay among others.....
my mom was stateside as a nurse.....in Washington Dc and at a TB hospital unit as well....
my mom is in Hospice as well....given only 2 to 3 months to live as of the end of January.....I don't know what keeps her going....isnt' eating or drinking much....no pills.....she uses pain patches....
truth is, she will be gone very soon and I can honestly say that I have dreaded the day that I would lose my mom since I was a child....and now all these years later, do you think my age would make a differance?....No way......
and when my dad dies, I will consider myself an orphan.....
Father Lord we pray for Your peace and comfort for this grieving family, in the name of Jesus, amen.
