Egon, you sly dog. You added WU point values to the FAHUpdate page! Are you somehow searching their point value page for protein numbers and finding its associated point value? You rock!

For some reason our daily point production seems to peak every Thursday.

Makes sense. Right now, WUs that are assinged, even on the best machines take 3-4 days. Klutz only gets the full compliment of machines during the week. Thursday the planets align and there you have it.

I'm parsing their psummary.html page into an XML structure every three hours, caching it, and matching the project name to the project name.

Hey! I see you've got 10 CPUs churning...Hmm. I must find more!

...he says as he goes shooting right by me!

Obviously, I know what you meant. That's sweet. So, as long as they don't arbitrarily change the structure of their table, you're golden. I hope you don't mind, but this interests me terribly, so I might have to bother you with a couple of FReepmails...

From my perspective, you have made folding for the FR, with multiple CPUs, a much more pleasant experience. Since you're working with ASP, are you using MSDE or Access for you local database? Please don't be offended that I asked if you're using Access, LOL.

Hah! Yeah, using Access. It gets a lot of bad press around here on the technical threads, but nothing beats if for small quick databases.

I generally hide my database calls behind DCOM objects that can serve up method calls in XML-RPC or SOAP so they can be used by clients written in ASP, Java, Flash, etc., and aren't tied to any specific database.

So, as long as they don't arbitrarily change the structure of their table, you're golden.

That's definitely a potential issue! Fortunately, it looks like it's a pretty simple structure, and likely static. They're probably generating the page automatically from their own internal database. In any event, if they change the structure, it'll become immediately apparent, and I should be able to adjust quickly.

OMG!!! One of my machines just got handed a WU that isn't projected to end until 25 May!

I'm going to fall past 200 before this is done!

If it just got assigned to it, check back in an hour or so. The first estimates of how long a WU will take are always horribly inflated - after it completes a cycle or two, the estimate becomes more realistic.

12pm update: 5,991 points

We managed to overtake 3 teams in the last 24 hours, with 3 more to be overtaken in the next 24 hours. That would make us Team #130.

Just got home and power came back up. Anyone seen Dorothy and Toto ???

HTH, Not sure exactly where you are, but you might escape this round. Keep a sharp eye out though. Lots of damage around here, some people trapped under a house in Goodletsville, but no deaths reported yet. I fear that will change when they can find Sumner Co. The roads are jammed tight, people going to help people. Ain't seen a FEMA truck all day long !!

Most of the Heartland was affected, I pray everyone is safe !!!!!!!!!!

Stay safe. Hope you didn't lose any more of the Folding Flock. The storms haven't gotten here yet, but I'm looking at the radar and they're coming.

We're fine, and the flock is a foldin', but there ia a big a$$ line going south of us, heading for you. Keep your head down, and be careful. This is some mean crap. It's like too quiet here, but I can hear the birds, so it'll be OK for now. God Bless anyone thats been in it's path.

Celebrating 101 WU's

And after sitting spinning my wheels for a week it looks like I'm starting to gain some traction again.

Onward and upward.
