My girlfriend and I were discussing just before the show tonight, that Mandisa would be soon to go, not because others who were left were more talented than she, but because she's fat. I disagreed with her. Darn if she wasn't right.
Taylor, absolutely stank last night. For a guy who has so little talent that should have been enough to send him bye-bye. It was one of the worst performances since the first show this year. Even Paula criticzed it.
First off, word is that Taylor was ill last night. Secondly, much as I like Mandisa, I still prefer Taylor's style over hers. That doesn't mean that she is bad, just a difference in style preferences. Third Paula was laying on the table 'out of it' again last night. I think the judges swapped jobs last night.
The fact that Taylor is ill might explain the poor song choice and why he didn't do Georgia last night. He may have been concerned that he would ruin a song that he normally nails. jmo
I don't think Mandisa is gone because she's fat, she just doesn't have a fan club like some of the others.
I have said all along, that even if she didn't win, her 'phone would still ring. She can sing anything! Even Barry Manilow said that. He also offered her a job if this didn't work out, we all heard it on the air.
It may be better that this happened now, rather than later.
You're partially correct about why Mandisa is gone. Her success week to week was more talent dependent than the other female singers. Because she is fat, she could not afford to have weak performances. Last week she was bad. This week she was even worse. Too bad she's leaving because I think she provided two of the best performances of the contest thus far with "I'm Every Woman" and "I Don't Hurt Anymore", and I expect that those will remain two of the best performances of the competition.
Taylor wasn't good last night, but he's one of the most talented of the group. I haven't liked most of his song choices, but there's no doubt in my mind that the guy can sing. Listen to "Soul Thing" if you think Taylor is only about the visual aspect of performance.
She is gone because she had two "clunker" weeks in a row. If it was because she was fat, she would have been in the bottom three at least once before now.
