That it does. Apparently, those legs really do go all the way up...
This is pressure cooker under a microcope! To do this on TV in front of America every week is tough. I think Katharine really thought she was going home.
I know the general feeling here is that she should be next. I think Elliott is improving each week. He demonstrates that he has taken all of their "lessons" to heart and now uses the techniques he's learned in his songs.
Why can't Chris be next? He said himself that he sang his 2nd song from Tuesday night 5 times that day and his voice was going. All of his songs are going to do that to his voice! He won't be able to do a concert night after night like you do when you're on tour. He needs to learn HOW to sing first. Maybe this is why he isn't a professional already?
The only reason she's the only girl left is because Mandisa left too early! If Mandisa were still in it Katharine would definitely be next female to go.
No, she didn't. She was a one-dimensional singer who put up two bad weeks in a row. She left when she earned her ticket out. It's just unfortunate that it doesn't always work like that and that people over-staying their ability (Covais, Pickler, etc.) sometimes manage to hang on for weeks for reasons other than their talent.
Don't think that most of Katherine's votes are coming from men? I don't think the voting goes along gender lines, it has more to do with music styles. He should get quite a few of Paris' votes just from the R&B crowd. Remember...he is "one funky white boy"!
yahoo...i'm sure i'm in the minority here in Alabama but I really like Shula....Bama's problems can be laid at the feet of Mal Moore, who if he wasn't a$$ tight with Paul Bryant Jr would have lost his job eons ago....
That would work! :)
I woke up this morning thinking about what Mr Soul Patrol should sing and I'm hoping for Burning Love or Jailhouse Rock as the first, and assuming a second, want either Love me Tender or In the Ghetto.
on second thought (or 3rd, 4th or 5th) he should do "My Way" - after all that was a huge hit for Elvis when he died.
AMEN
I think it's going to be Chris & Taylor in the top two and voting will be out of control! But I agree with you, I would love for it to be Taylor and Elliott. I think Elliott has improved the most this season. Chris and Taylor don't sound much different than they did the first show!
One dimensional? Explain that. She nailed the Heart song as well as Chaka Khan's I'm Every Woman. Few other great performances as well. Her bad performances were not even all that bad and especially so when compared to Kat.
that's a good one....anytime I've ever gone to a garage sale I either see a ton of wedding dresses or a boatload of exercise equipment...so either the marriage failed or the weight didn't come off.....
I think that Kat's base is comprised of:
Shallow men who vote for her boobage
Older people
The Girl Power bloc
Would "generic dime-a-dozen gospel singer" serve as a better description? She left because she flubbed two weeks in a row.
And then there are those of us who see the potential in her better performances, and are just hoping she gets those together more consistently.
McPhee clearly has consistency issues, but she manages to follow up poor performances with good ones. There is certainly a large contigent here on the board who seem to be looking for reasons to hate her, so they pounce on every negative they can find, and ignore the positives. "Someone to Watch Over Me" and the other night's "Black Horse and Cherry Tree" were excellent performances, and more than make up for a muffed "Against All Odds". The fact is, she did well (but not great) with the Whitney Houston song you mention, but the judges unfairly savaged her for it, and for some reason, others continue to do so.
Do some contestants outlive their talent? Absolutely. I'm the one who mentioned Covais and Pickler, remember. I've never been a fan of Chris either, check my posting history. As for Bucky, I think he managed to hang on out of sheer work ethic and a genuinely "nice guy" personality.
Regarding Paris, my biggest problem with her is that she has absolutely no identity. Everything she did came over as a copy, and she almost always chose songs that were age-inappropriate. I think she's very talented, and that she'll have a good career in music. But she isn't "American Idol" material.
Of course, it's hard to really say that any of the competitors are truly "AI" material. This has been my biggest complaint about the top 12 this year. No matter who wins this thing, they're going to be deficient in at least one aspect of the "total package". Is the winner going to be another Kelly or Carrie, or will he or she be another Rueben? (Or somewhere in between, like a Fantasia?) I don't think any of them -- right now -- is ready to be another Kelly or Carrie. I do think that Elliott, Paris, and Katharine have the best potential, however.
Not to mention "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" for Stevie Wonder week, and "I Don't Hurt Anymore" for the 50's themed week. One dimensional? I DON'T think so.
I agree kev, Pickler did overstay her welcome.
