Michael Dell, chairman of Dell Inc. believes in offering Linux on the desktop, server, and workstation. What he doesn't believe in, for now, is giving Linux full support on the desktop. In an exclusive interview, Dell explained his company's Linux desktop strategy to DesktopLinux.com's Steven J. Vaughan Nichols.

"People are always asking us to support Linux on the desktop, but the question is: 'Which Linux are you talking about?'," Dell asked.

I think that we're making progress...

Are you now saying that, five years ago, Dell offered Linux desktop machines?

I don't know, I never got one, it says they "tried" them, although I have no particular recollection of it. If I stated otherwise elsewhere I obviously was mistaken.

Oh goody! We're getting somewhere!

So now that you see that Dell did, in fact, once offer desktop Linux solutions, can you give me the quote from the article explaining why they stopped?

Can you answer the question? Why did Dell stop offering a desktop Linux solution? Here are a few hints: Commies, Bilderburgers, and China do not figure into the answer.

"Only because there's so many moonies around here like halfman, antirepublic, redcloak, shadowman, etc..."

Aw, crap. I didn't make the list. Now my feelings are hurt.

"that ram this stuff down our throats constantly."

????

You show up at these threads, which no one forces you to read, and start disrupting friendly, honest conversation with your paranoid conspiracy theories and howling about Stallman. Who invited you, anyway? If you feel like you're having something rammed down your throat, don't let the door hit you in the @$$ on the way out, bubba.

"When I point out their BS, and the ties between OSS and the UN/DNC/PRC etc, "

When I get a new operating system, my money doesn't end up in the hands of the Chicoms or the Democrats or Planned Parenthood, all Microsoft beneficiaries. You can't say the same. What does this mean?

Oh, yeah. That's right. You're a giant hypocrite.

Just ignore it, why don't you?

Because you can't...then you wouldn't get paid.

"I simply showed up on the thread where one of the linux fanbois posted this article claiming Dell was announcing they were going to sell Linux on home desktop computers, and expressed my belief it was just another load of bunk..."

Yeah, I remember that...that was the thread where you got caught not only lying about your own words, but then saying that I made them up.

You really showed me on that one. I'll never mess with you again.

BAHA! Here you show up again, slinging names like normal, oblivious to the fact you've been proven wrong on every possible thread. No Linux desktops by Dell, no Linux apps much less O/S from Google, not even much Linux inside IBM! ALL BS. So go ahead and fire off some more names if you want, the record shows you've been wrong on every point, so might as well make an @$$ of yourself too!

$20 says if he posts again here, he'll not answer your question and try to change the subject.

You can't even remember what you said within one thread. I've proven that. I'm not at all confident in your ability to recall anything beyond yesterday.

You just proved it. Never said Dell offered a desktop, never said ANYTHING about a Google OS, never said anything about Linux adoption by IBM. You have to make up things to say you beat me about, because in reality, you know I've kicked your butt numerous times.

PS. If you're not a complete coward, then post a link to where I said any of the above. I dare you, jackass.

Took me 2 seconds to find your posts on all those threads, including Google. Face it, you're a total fraud, who does nothing but stink up the place.

All open source isn't evil, that's the stigma you guys have tried to stick on me forever.

The only real open source I remember you not framing as evil is BSD-licensed code. Of course that doesn't make any sense, as the Chinese can take that as readily as GPL licensed code. You just don't like GPL because businesses can't take the code without giving any improvements back. You want it free for business, but not for the rest of us.

Apple has nothing to do with anything like that

China can download and run Darwin for their supercomputers just as they can Linux. They'll mainly be missing the pretty Apple shell, but distributions usually come with X11 instead.

but not when they try to take over the market, as the creators of their licenses absolutely intend for them to do.

Everybody with a product wants it to take over the market. It's human nature to succeed.

You seem to equate all open source proponents with Stallman, when in fact his following is small. Most people side with Linus, since most people aren't flaming leftists.

China can download and run Darwin for their supercomputers just as they can Linux.

Which you obviusly have no objections over. That is the scary part. But only one of them is a current problem, as the Chinese aren't interested in Darwin or Apple in the least. They are interested in our free copies of Linux, which is a complete operating system, not a simple core, and one they get completely free, for their own infinite use.

Everybody with a product wants it to take over the market.>

So you don't have a problem with the "copyleftists" who want to "make all proprietary software obsolete"? They're "human", so their rights and wishes should be respected as equal to our own?

You seem to equate all open source proponents with Stallman, when in fact his following is small. Most people side with Linus, since most people aren't flaming leftists.

Torvalds did a complete 180 in less than a week on whether he will use Stallman's new license, if you call that standing up to Stallman no wonder you let him walk all over you too. Sorry to be so harsh but you are so weak in your defenses of these people I have no time to sugar coat it for you. Either you allow these leftists to continue to dominate open source, or you move to products that don't use their license. So far you seem totally content with Stallman/GPL exactly as is, so you should expect some harsh criticism.

Congratulations. You know how to use FR's "find user post" function. We all learned that years ago, so you can stop patting yourself on the back.

What are you so scared of, Turkey? If I'm as nutty as you say, it should be easy to find one post where I claimed Dell was selling Linux desktops, Google was making an operating system, or that IBM was deploying Linux within their company. Find one, and I'll admit right here in front of everyone that I was wrong and apologize.

Just one, Turkey. You can't do it, because you're a pathological liar and you've just been caught again, attributing comments to me that I didn't say. Lying is the only way you think you can win, because you've given up on the facts long ago.

Coward.

You posted on every one of those threads, as is shown in your history, search for IBM, Google, whatever.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/user-posts?id=33689

Take you lies somewhere else, and your foul mouth. You obviously have no real world expertise on any of these subjects, and have been repeatedly reduced to a slobbering angry fool.

You're the one making the accusations.

I've asked you twice to back them up, and you won't do it.

You'll post line after line of links to drivel that you scrape off Google, but you can't post ONE link that proves what you say about me, because you are a STINKING LIAR through and through.

Nothing but a hypocritical liar. If you had the facts to shut me up, you'd use them. To continue to post a link to my history isn't gonna make your lies go away, liar.

PUT UP OR SHUT UP, LIAR. Point me to one post that proves I've said that Dell sells Linux desktops, that Google is making an OS, and that IBM is adopting Linux internally.

If you post a link to my history again, you're only proving to all of us that you're the cowardly liar that I say you are.
