Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It's 55 here. I went out and played some disc golf for a while at the park across the street. Going to a matinee with friends in an hour. Mmmm... this is what free time would be like, I guess.

Buck Owens hosted "Hee-Haw" with Roy Clark, but he didn't sing "Where Oh Where." He's credited with writing it and I believe he recorded it with Campbell.
But I was a weee yout when Hee-Haw was on. I do have happy memories about watching it with my family. It made my Dad chuckle like nothing else.

Oh you'll never hear one of us repeating gossip.
So you'd better be sure and listen close the first time.

The way I remember Hee Haw, it was much funnier if you drank beer while you were watching it. I used to enjoy it anyway.
I remember seeing Loretta Lynn sing a tune on Hee Haw once, that was my introduction to her...I went right out and got a 33 LP after that, she sounded good.

Heh...had an Eddie Bauer bag that I finally emptied. I set it on the couch, and of course Halvah moved in instantly. What it is with her and paper bags, I really don't understand.

He's credited with writing it and I believe he recorded it with Campbell. That makes sense. I just remember it from the show.

I shoulda known. We've been needing rain for weeks. All I had to do was to wash the truck and water the flower garden (seed balls said to water 'em or the squirrels would think they was nutzs)

My azalea is hanging in there. It's got a few buds. Daffodils, crocus and forsythia are in full bloom. The lillies and daylillies have top growth, and the echinacea is starting to put out.
Phew! It's a job double digging compost into theraisedbed. The dug up roots kept fouling my tiller tines. I dug up half-way around thesunroom...I'm pooped! I keep digging up concrete frap. Think I'll just make a frap walkway.

Act NaturallyThey're gonna put me in the movies!
They're gonna make a big star out of me!
We'll make a film about a man that's sad and lonely,
And all I got to do is act naturally!
Well, I bet you I'm a-gonna be a big star!
Might win an Oscar! You cain't never tell!
The movies're gonna make me a big star,
'Cause I can play the part so well ...!
Well, I hope you come and see me in the movies!
Then I'll know that you will plainly see
The biggest fool that's ever hit the big time,
And all I got to do is act naturally!
We'll make the scene about a man that's sad and lonely,
And begging down upon his bended knee.
I'll play the part, but I won't need rehearsin',
All I'll have to do is act naturally!
Well, I bet you I'm a-gonna be a big star!
Might win an Oscar! You cain't never tell!

My mamma would go shopping on Saturdays. My daddy made few rules, but one was about Saturdays. He would take us anywhere we wanted to go, as long as he was home at 6pm to watch
Hee Haw.
Daddy and I liked the country music, but he really enjoyed the times Grandpaw would get out his twelve-string banjo and take off a-picking. My daddy was a banjo music lover.
Me, too.

Evening, glad to hear that azaleas are getting to bloom and the echinada is starting to signs of life.
Hmmm. Signs is on tonight.
LSA has returned from the baby shower and I has returned from the range, on the whole, she would have rather gone to the range.
Gypsygirl missed us both, or just her nap, she was on guard you know.. But now she's been fed and walked and all back to normal in her world. :-)
To: RosieCotton
And she had a preference for Eddie Bauer bags too, I think. I bet if there were two paper bags on the floor, she'd ignore the other one.

Can't decide whether to watch Mr.Blandings Builds His Dream Home or put in a DVD. I'd watch Signs but I don't want to sit through commercials.

Yep. She's an Eddie Bauer kinda gal, for some reason.
Well, the gate is hung! I'm sure Hair will be by with pictures shortly - it looks really nice, even if it goes to nowhere right now. ;-)
