The Hobbit Hole XXVIII - Through shadows to the edge of night
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 02/24/2006 9:52:11 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Through shadows to the edge of night

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I recommend this one. If my permit was valid in my home state :( then I would already have one. For now I can carry so rarely that I just carry a full size 1911.

Plenty of choices for rent at the Bullet Hole. I rented Glock, CZ, S&W, Sig-Sauer there and at Crossfire. Tried the 9mm, 40S&W, and 45acp. Pretty much most of them that are on the T-Shirt.

The 'diversity' on the shirt is actually kinda limited :(
Can't say I have shot near that many though.

Fair enough, it is a good start though. The rental availablility at our local ranges is pretty good; one place has range guns for rent $10, another has any used gun can be shot for a cleaning fee $5; good way to try out a gun and 'see how it fits'. OT's a member at the same one I am in KS and both LSA and I are members at the MO one.

Steenkin' firewall won't let me go to weapons sites.

Rental availability in CR is zero :(
And I don't know enough pistol shooters to have tried all their toys. I probably will not get away with anymore toys until Jen has a few. Not that this is a bad thing... :-D

re: zero rentals, that is a bummer.

I concur firearm shopping for spouses can be as rewarding as firearm shopping for oneself.

Does IA have 'permit to purchase' plus yellowsheet the way MO does, or is it like KS where it's just yellowsheet?

The 'permit to purchase' requirement has minimized impulse purchases over the years. :-)

:-) I wish. Well...kinda. I really think I may eventually get a membership at the shooting range, and some sort of handgun.

I don't want to work today, either. Let alone do another housecall.

The best pistol range, inside, is actually the police range. We'll take ya there some time.
